Yeah, I think he puts those on all his basses. They are ebony with luminlay. Pretty cool.

Thanks! The walnut neck makes it a pretty rare bird, which is cool. I'm also looking forward to the different sound from the Super Fatties. The one downside of my previous combination of AB and Super PJ is that the AB had a P-tone neck pickup, which normally would be pretty cool, but it meant that the two basses really had the same exact setup. I was kind of craving a bass that would offer up a little change in tone as well as the medium scale.

I've loved that bass and have been tempted by it on a few occasions but not being a jazz bass kinda guy I've had to really check myself. I still toil with having one that is amazing and that every time I sit down with it I bond to but it always is last in line to get played.
My Z3 is a walnut neck with super fatties and oh it is such a delight. My AB2 also had a walnut neck. Loved it!!
I think the super fatties are highly under appreciated compared to the fd3S. They are an awesome awesome pick up.

Congrats on the stellar pair. Your PJ also had me checking my will power at one point before it came into your possession. Beauty combo

As soon as I saw the PJ for sale all will power went right out the window. Lol! I was in love when I saw the photo from when it was built and I never dreamed it would pop up here. It demolished all expectations.

Well, as long as we're all being so open and about with one another, I lusted for your Z for months Nate, but just didn't have the scratch to buy it. She's a beaut Clark!

A picture of the burl triplets. Lol. The Roscoe is new to me and is killer but I feel it's a temporary stop on my way to a Z3 6. I've been really heavy into playing a six for the last bit and chickened out on a Z3 6 build I had put a deposit on a year ago as I was uncertain at the time it would have been smart but now I'm regretting backing out. When some life changes take place I'll be starting a build unless a used one that I like surfaces.

The AB2 I sold locally and wish I still had it but needed the cash as it was a promised sacrifice due to the Z3 purchase.
I did sneak the ibby in there too(sorry guys) just cause it is a super sweet one and it will also be a missed bass. Nicest one I've played and it was my gateway to a six string.

Lol. I did too. I'm not sure if you recall on the dingwall forum but I offer up trucks, plumbing services, children, body parts..... it was over a year that I lustedd after it and it was right after I sold my F bass that I was fortunate enough that pooshoes still had it and wanted to part with it and lived only 3 hours from me. I think it was meant to be. The only way that one will part from me will either be a six string that grips me the same or I die..... but then I still may insist on getting buried with it.

Btw. Sexy new AB!!!! It was crazy I saw your post and thought," WELL Sheeeeiiiittt!!! I should go git me anutha dingwall too!!!!"

Aaahhhh, you're the one that owns that J. I remember that one. Beautiful basses! Every last one is excellent. I think the top on that ABII took my breath away a little bit. Good thing you sold that locally or I might have wound up with it only to find I prefer the medium scale. The Z, man, that combo of fretboard and walnut neck. Damn!

Oh, and speaking of Roscoe being a temporary stop, I VERY nearly wound up with a super nice Roscoe with a spalted purpleheart fretboard right before the PJ came up. If that had worked out I wouldn't have been able to pull the trigger on the PJ and my tears would have forever stained the ground.

I know!!!!! It was a really hard trigger to pull. I owned it from new and loved it sooo dearly.

And just an FYI to all of my fellow dingwall enthusiasts. I am ashamed and feel guilt for even posting my SJ5 up. I've just had 6 string GAS for a long time and..... well....... *sigh*.... *gulp*.......

Well that's how I really feel and I've had possible trades on the table and thankfully nothing has happened. The only thing I'm lusting for now is a Z3 or prima 6..... but let's be real. I'm just a plumber... serious doubts on the whole prima thing.

I just put some new Payson stainless on the Z3 a couple weeks back and wow.
I think to date walnut may be my favourite neck. I've been able to feel the seam joints on my AB but it wasn't a thing. The wenge is so sweet too but I think walnut is my fav. I'm still on the fence about the BEM fb being my fav or the zirrocote. I would like to try more wood combos with zirrocote before coming to conclusion on it. But I will say BEM on walnut DEFINITELY WORKS!!!!!

Man, such awesome basses some of you folks have. I'm so happy that I got to try a Super P at my last get together from @whirledpeas. I still lust after one, but the ABs are more "for me". I still need to find a Z to try someday.

Huh, that's very interesting to hear. I've been dying to try a wenge neck, but that makes me even more excited to try the walnut. Both of my Dingwalls thus far have been maple.

I've been playing the Payson reduced core nickel steels on my ABZ and really like them. Just ordered a couple more sets for the new AB!

I have a set of those sitting here in que but I don't think they will give me the same tonal desires that I find in stainless. I think the dingwall strings are great and will happily use them again but these Paysons are bad ass!
