How do you have to pay import taxes on something that came from here to send it back here. That makes about as much sense as a DT tweet.
Believe me, made my head hurt. Fed Ex USA was no help. Had to go thru customer service to the tax department who said, 'it was Canada'. Had to call Canada Fed Ex who said to call Canada customs. (all during the Christmas holidays...hours spent on 'hold'...). Best I could tell, someone had to prove that tax had been paid on the bass. No way I was going to prove that (I bought it used as well.) We tried the NAFTA route, no luck. Sheldon tried to help. Canadian provinces all have different tax rates and tax laws...etc. Money had already been deducted from my credit card by Fed Ex. I was hosed. Buyer came thru at the end of the day and paid me back. He was actually expecting to have to pay the duty tax?!

Talk to Jason at Bassstringsonline.com.

I'm getting away with 100-30, E-C on my super pj. DR pure blues. I don't know if they would be long enough for the longscales.

I'd try a set of Dingwall longscales for a six string to get a start. You'll have a spare B.
Love the Pure Blues strings. Yes, I don't think they would work on the ABZ-up long scales.

Doesn't make sense but not a lot in our current society does. Only thinks that make sense are basses, dogs and beer and sometimes I wonder about the dogs.

The taxes are like a sales or use tax. And that is a tax that local governments want to impose every chance they get. It's just like when you buy a used car. Every time that car gets sold to a new owner, the state wants to collect another sales tax on the transaction. In NY State, they actually expect you to pay a use tax to NY (if the state doesn't get to collect sales tax) on any freakin purchase you make. So, if you purchase a bass from San Diego over the Internet, and no sales tax is collected, they expect you to declare the purchase and pay the use tax!!

Duty is another thing. Duty is not due on any product (or at least virtually any product) that originates in, and is sold between, two NAFTA countries. The way way to avoid imposition of duty is to provide a Certificate or Origin, which is actually pretty easy to do. The form can be downloaded by the purchaser, and filled out and signed by the seller. If anyone needs a link for the form let me know.

Besides the fact that I never engage the 2-band Glockenlang pre on my ABZ6, that bass is the epitome of what I'd want features wise. Wenge/wenge neck, unique finish, 3 pickups, 3 coil switches... if it were a 6 I'd have listed my two already to try and acquire it.
