Oh man, I'd thought I'd forgotten about my Jackson Concert 5. Got it in a trade for an 80's strat I wasn't playing. It was nice and light, but oh so pointy and metallic black. Thankfully, it's long gone to a nice metal head home.

It really wasn't cutting it for a blues thing.

I was never a fan of those hockey stick headstocks, even when they were popular in the 80's and early 90's.

I've always had a thing that the strings have to go straight from the nut to the tuner (or close to), with the exception of maybe Warwick and Alembic.

I think some of the Kiesels look great too, but some really border on gaudy and I think Dingwall has largely managed overdoing it.

I imagine most of you will know how I feel when I tell you that Michael at Shome Music informed me that my Dingwall will be shipped to him next week, and I should have it in apx. 2 weeks. To put it mildly, I AM doing cart wheels!
Can't wait to hear it thru my B amp and pair of Reference 112s

I adjusted the pickup height on my ABII to what the factory spec suggests. Wow did that make a difference for my tone. I had the pickups pretty much the same distance from all strings, and now put the treble side higher and bass much lower. Gave some extra thickness to the mid and upper strings, and more clarity/less boom (still a nice depth) to the low strings (B, E)

When I was younger I made the mistake of thinking cranking your pick ups UP was the right way to beef up your sound.... boy was I WRONG!!! The masters as work know what they are doing when your pickups are set at the heights they are set at. With these finer tuned precision instruments we are priveledged to own and play, it sure is much more transparent and noticeable when you do even the smallest tweaks on the settings.

If I'm looking at lowering my action I'm also looking at pick up adjustment I have learned over the years.

I have an older AB1 with three control knobs and a 2 position toggle. The previous owner installed a pre-amp. I want to remove that and put the bass back to passive.

I will have 4 controls (he replaced one of the original knobs with a stacked knob) and the toggle.

What would you guys do with the knobs?

I'm leaning towards individual volumes and tones for each pickup. What should/can the toggle do?
