In the end, you'll wish you had the Dingwall. You have to check clearances - some of those won't fit and some will be $45 each. Order a strap, etc. and bring the shipping down. Order a couple and sell them to other pour souls in the US and end up splitting shipping. The Dingwall one also has screw terminals. Believe me - after sticking your fingers and the soldering iron in that cramped area - you'll wish you had the Dingwall rotary.
Hey man, I bought a Dingwall series/parallel 4 position from someone on here. I thought i was going to change things up on my bass, but decided against it. If you're interested, message me. Definitely cheaper than getting one from Dingwall.
I'm pretty sure that's $86 Canadian, which converts to about $65 US. If you pay through PayPal, they make the conversion automatically. They make some on the conversion of course, but it should be right around the current exchange rate.
My FDV pickups just arrived from Canada. Going for an old school alnico vibe in my SJ5. They will replace my FD3 pickups. My SJ5 has a Glock pre. Opinions on something other than a Glock to go with these more vintage pickups? The Glock is very transparent and has a passive option so I'm hoping its a good match....

Happily trending in my own peculiar direction.
I've finally got the bug to wire my Super Fatty neck Pup to series on my Super J/P4 (w Aggie OPB-1) and my Pups don't look like thisI forgot to take note of what page it was on, but now it is on this page.
Mine have 3 wires coming from the Pup. Blk Red and a Clear.
Can anyone clue me in to the correct way to do it?
The wires for it are the bottom set in the pic.
Any help would be much appreciated.
My FDV is on its way to Mo, and tomorrow I'll finally have the time to send out the SP5 body.
Where do you guys go for custom pickguard? I love the folks at Dingwalls but their price for a pickguard was out of my budget, so I'm thinking of ordering one. Tort just won't look right on Capri orange.
I'm thinking white pearl, or if there is such a thing, aged white. I loved the look of the slightly tan-tinged white guard on my old orange P. A new, shiny white guard would be too white. Parchment maybe?

Mine was just under 100 with shipping. I thought it a good value for the service and materials they are providing.
Considering the SP5 guard is big, I'm expecting just over $100 with shipping, as I'm likely going to go with a parchment/black/parchment guard. We'll see what they say.

Do the FDV's come in 6 string size? I'm... getting curious about them and may look for a set to swap in my green AB1.
The "more vintage" option would be to go strictly passive.
I don't think you can change the internal wiring on those pickups. Two of the wires are connected to the coils and the third one (the clear?) is a shield ground (I think, not sure). You need the 4L (four-lead) pickups if you want to access the coils separately and change them from parallel to series - or the Mach II, which is wired permanently in series.
