Combustion/NG necks are the same thickness and carve as AB necks. They differ on the fretboard radius which is why the AB necks feel slightly slimmer. Z necks are 1 mm thinner and 3 mm narrower at the 24th fret.

I would use the center string to measure from. 18 mm center to center for each string.

The older saddles were great. They just did not have as much height adjustment as we would have liked. The new ones have nearly double the adjustment range.

I think Sheldon Dingwall is one of the best dudes around. He offered me some advice when I was having my shoulder issues, which I thought was extremely classy. That has stayed with me. So after perusing the NAMM threads, I've decided that I owe it to myself to get back on the Dingwall train. It's gonna take me a bit, but my plan is to have a couple of Dingwalls by the end of the year. I'd love to have ABZs, but I think NG-2/3s are probably more reasonable. I live in Indiana, so there isn't a Dingwall dealer anywhere near me, but I've reached out to them in order to get things lined up for when I'm ready. @bebass -Would you be able to help a brotha' out? I'm trying to get all the info so I can get everything situated to make a few moves. Thanks guys and gals!

The ABZ level basses and up have a strap pin on the back of the body. It's there to shift the position of the bass to the right when on a strap. This reduces the left hand reach by about 1-1/2". Also, less appealing from a tone standpoint, but ideal from a comfort standpoint would be to play as much as you can up the neck and over one string. This turns the bass into a short scale.

I can't comment about your particular bass, but we are almost daily receiving the batch that we originally thought December. They have been steadily processing them since December. Methinks it was a fairly large batch of basses. My guess would be "soon" for your bass.
edit: If you ordered direct from Dingwall I suggest you send an email inquiring. If you ordered from a dealer they should be able to give you an update, but may not know of exact ETA.

Thanks - that's good to know. Hopefully mine will be here any day, in that case.

BTW.. I believe you and I may have had a bit of scrap on Reverb a little while back when I was originally looking at the NG-2, and I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for my part in that. Was a pretty innocent misunderstanding that got way too heated.

So. This exact bass popped up in Bass Direct's inventory some time at the end of 2016 IIRC (it might have been 2015, not 100% sure). At the time, I had started to lose interest in my then current bass (for personal reasons that had nothing to do with the quality of the instrument itself).

Like I said, I've always been a p-bass kind of person. I just never found the right one. Then this bass showed up, and I knew I had to have it. I put my bass up for sale, and was close to a deal when the SP5 sold before I had a chance to buy it. I was heartbroken. This was early 17' IIRC (again, possibly 16'). Anyway - I promised myself that if it ever upon a blue moon appeared again, I'd buy it.

Flash forward to the weeks before Xmas last year. I had some cash saved up, planning to buy an iPad as an Xmas gift to myself. I'd also just turned down an offer to buy my brother's Switch (the game console) for a good price. By some gut instinct I decided to save my money.

Anyway. Coming home after work on Friday the 15th, I check my usual bass related sites to see if anything interesting had shown up. My heart skips a beat (literally) when I scroll down to the bottom of the Bass Direct Dingwall page (where they advertise used instruments) and find the bass listed there again.

My custom bass had been on/off sale for a year at this point, with lots of interest but no sale. So I count my funds and update my sale post on a Swedish bassist forum, lowering the price with about €500 for the weekend only. Fifteen minutes later, I get a message saying "I'll take it" from a former potential buyer. The only problem? He lives across the entire country from me.

Now. My brother operates locomotives for the state owned Swedish railway. I message him asking if he by any chance was departing from Stockholm to Gothenburg over the weekend. He says yeah, tomorrow morning at 9. So I meet my brother, he chauffeurs the bass to Gothenburg, the buyer gets it, money directly transferred to me, three hours after departure.

The same day (Saturday), I purchase the Dingwall. Shipped on Monday, arrived on Thursday the same week. Exemplary service from Bass Direct in England. I get the bass just in time for Christmas.

tl;dr

I vowed to buy this bass if it ever appeared again, and it did just in time for Xmas.

Typically it's a Jule Monique or Noble Bass Preamp/DI into a Crest ProLite 3.0/Jule M700/Demeter Minnie.

I've also had great results with a Mesa M9 and of course the venerable Ampeg SVT.

I prefer something with a lot of headroom so I can really push the low B to be clear/full/loud.

My personal stage rig is the Genzler; MG800 with a pair of BA12-3s. Although I played a good bit last year, currently I am not playing out due to simply getting fed up with it for awhile. Surely, as in times past, I will get over that, and be eager to play out. Right now I am attempting to write more and indeed have a DVD scheduled where I need to record the intro song. I will use the clean MG800 direct, as well as a PR40 on the cab.

I run a DSM NOISEMAKER OmniCabSim on my pedalboard, then my rack has a Demeter HBP-1 and CrestProlite 2.0 DSP that I run bridged into a pair of Greenboy fEARful cabs. Probably going to get a ProLITE 3.0 DSP at some point .
