Well, that would be a cool. non-pickguard look. Nice addition.

Combustion/NG necks are the same thickness and carve as AB necks. They differ on the fretboard radius which is why the AB necks feel slightly slimmer. Z necks are 1 mm thinner and 3 mm narrower at the 24th fret. And IIRC correctly the Z is 2mm thinner then an AB!?!?
The Z shape is thin flattened "C"
Vs the AB being medium "C"
Hi, i got myself a new Combustion 5-string (2017 model) and i love it already more than every other bass i've touched. Currently i am in the process to set it up to my preferences and i have some question:
Whats your string action / height (and where do you mesure? 12 or 17 fret?). I find the bridge pieces a little bit wobbly if the string on top of it is downtuned from standard (in my case the stock b string tuned to a# or a, if i push it at the height between the pickups to one side to simulate hart picking attack it slides a tiny bit in that direction too) - is this normal or should i check the screws and their "rails" they sit in? Is there a reference point for finding the center for the E string for setting the correct string spacing of 18mm? From viewing straight onto it when standing above the bass it looks like the string spacings are not 100% even between all the strings and the bridges itself also don't have even spaces between them. I hope you can help me.
PS: the old bridge looked more massive... why were they replaced on the new models?
Ok, so, I was completely into Dingwall basses. I owned a Combustion and an ABZ. LOVED them completely. Then came the left shoulder issues which made playing bass painful, much less playing a 37" B-string. Had surgery, which turned out to be, thankfully, less rotator cuff and more arthroscopic. Sold the Dingwalls, went to 34' basses, and went on about my business.
Fast forward a few years...
I'm older, but my shoulder is 98%, and my band is showing no signs of slowing down. I've been playing Kiesel Vader basses for the last year or so. Great basses. Sound good, look cool, easy to carry. Kiesel has a fanned-fret lineup including the Vanquish bass. My "problem" is this, if I'm gonna play fanned-fret basses, I'd rather play Dingwalls. I think Sheldon Dingwall is one of the best dudes around. He offered me some advice when I was having my shoulder issues, which I thought was extremely classy. That has stayed with me. So after perusing the NAMM threads, I've decided that I owe it to myself to get back on the Dingwall train. It's gonna take me a bit, but my plan is to have a couple of Dingwalls by the end of the year. I'd love to have ABZs, but I think NG-2/3s are probably more reasonable. I live in Indiana, so there isn't a Dingwall dealer anywhere near me, but I've reached out to them in order to get things lined up for when I'm ready. @bebass -Would you be able to help a brotha' out? I'm trying to get all the info so I can get everything situated to make a few moves. Thanks guys and gals!
Sorry about that Joey. Just back from NAMM with a ton of emails to deal with. I'll have our admin look into this. Not sure if anyone is experiencing this but....
It’s now been over 2 weeks without a response from the shop.
I bought a TShirt and money has been paid but no response.
I emailed 3 times so far to both sales and store and no response.
Are they having issues with the new site where emails are not getting thru?
I want to buy knobs too. But, have hold off until I know what’s going on.
I can't comment about your particular bass, but we are almost daily receiving the batch that we originally thought December. They have been steadily processing them since December. Methinks it was a fairly large batch of basses. My guess would be "soon" for your bass.Maybe Sheldon can answer this - just curious about the timeline on the current crop of NG-2s. I ordered one in summer of 2017, and I was told at the time to expect it in December. It is now February, and nothing yet. Just curious if there is any way to get an update. Thanks!

edit: If you ordered direct from Dingwall I suggest you send an email inquiring. If you ordered from a dealer they should be able to give you an update, but may not know of exact ETA.
Very well. It's not a story the Jedi will tell you...
But I am curious to hear it! I am a recent P bass convert after trying a 5er and 4-string NG2.
Hey no problem man. Going through 3rd party sites is not exactly an easy way to correct misunderstandings. Thanks - that's good to know. Hopefully mine will be here any day, in that case.
BTW.. I believe you and I may have had a bit of scrap on Reverb a little while back when I was originally looking at the NG-2, and I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for my part in that. Was a pretty innocent misunderstanding that got way too heated.
And also, another option not mentioned is the fretboard option of Pau Ferro for the Combustion.Daaaammmmmnnnnn. Combustion with quilted maple top in indigo burst??? Urghhhhhhh. Maximum Dingwall GAS achieved. And they'll probably be a 6 string version too. Wowowowowowow.
Which amps are you guys using with your DWs? My live tone comes 95% of the time from the DI out of my pedalboard, but I've been thinking about replacing my GK MB Fusion for something else

Broughton P-15=>BB800=>BF Two10/AK H1203Currently a Broughton P15>Quilter BB800>MAS109.
Such a nice a rig!Typically it's a Jule Monique or Noble Bass Preamp/DI into a Crest ProLite 3.0/Jule M700/Demeter Minnie.
I've also had great results with a Mesa M9 and of course the venerable Ampeg SVT.
I prefer something with a lot of headroom so I can really push the low B to be clear/full/loud.
I run a DSM NOISEMAKER OmniCabSim on my pedalboard, then my rack has a Demeter HBP-1 and CrestProlite 2.0 DSP that I run bridged into a pair of Greenboy fEARful cabs. Probably going to get a ProLITE 3.0 DSP at some point .Which amps are you guys using with your DWs?
