Just "plain old" Alder, with a nicely flamed maple top. Glockenklang 3 band pre in it - almos went with the darkglass, but I really enjoy the Glock... even for my hard rock / metal bands. I really can't say enough good stuff about that bass. Love all three of my Afterburners though

I love my alder ABI's!

I've been playing with some effects lately and have a lot of fun up on the C.
The main reason for me attempting this transition( I believe I gratefully (thanks Dustin) received my 6 last August ish) was I want to explore more chordal and solo style playing.

I'm also venturing into tapping quite a bit and that is truly where I find it the most beneficial for me. Arpeggios all day long with the added range. It's a lot of fun.
Definitely tapping.

It's become my main player for about the last 4 months. When I play the fivers they just feels so small and nimble in comparison. I LOVE going back to my 5 string Z.

The main reason for me in choosing the Z over an AB is the neck. I don't have very long fingers and find the profile a seriously noticeable difference on the Z compared to any other 6 I've ever played. It's almost like playing a fat 5 of another brand. Lol.

Yes. I love my SJ neck... on my SJ. If it was a 6 string I think I would have a bit harder if a time.

All this said I had a wonderful Roscoe 6 with a broader/Beefier neck and it was truly amazing and not difficult to play but it was more work. For cost reasons I almost did an AB Instead and I'm sure it would have been fine and I would have adapted..... but I want to get really damn good and starting(woodshedding) later in the game I'll take every advantage I can.

Trying to get Fernando molinari good. Or Jared smith from archspire good. I don't think it will happen but it's what I'm working for and definitely can't blame the tools I'm using.

I'm sure I'm a lot older than you and I don't do prog metal but it looks like a lot of fun. I checked out Molinari's "Heavy Slap" video on youtube. Amazing! My 6 string Gods are older fusion guys - Anthony Jackson and John Patitucci, who kind of pioneered the instrument.

I can confirm that Dingwall 6 string basses are perfect for that "older fusion."

You're killing me. And that sixer has been killing me since I first saw a photo of it more than four years ago. I'm about 600 days into my order for a similar Z3-6 and still counting the minutes.

The slanted fret basses sitting on top of the herringbone fabric is such a cool effect. Someone is a real artist!

Does any of you have experience with the Mesa Subway d800/d800+ together with a Dingwall?

I traded for an 800+ a few weeks ago and have been playing with it at home. It plays very nicely with Dingwalls. I would be surprised if you don't like this amp if/when you try one.

I just traded for the 800+ also! I agree with spiritbass, great sounding amp.

I just traded for the 800+ also! I agree with spiritbass, great sounding amp.

I monkeyed around with one once and was extremely tempted by it. It's a great head IMO.

Ah yes. Tropical rain is the name of that song. It's what originally attracted me to him. His album built by elements is fantastic and quite diverse.

Nice job! I used to go watch John Patitucci a lot in a little club in LA before he joined ChicksC band Nice to see a younger players doing fusion . Keep it up

The Noble is pretty awesome too
I've been running one for the last year or so. I'm always very pleased with the tone I get and typically get compliments.

I haven't played a D800+ but it's on my list to check out.

I think they're all different kinds of good and you can't go wrong.
