Dingwall Owners Club

I'd would really LOVE to see some Dingwall basses! A few of you fine folks put up a few 6ers the last couple of pages that were all drool-worthy! drool I'd like to see any and all you guys have. It's only sheer willpower that's keeping me from hitting up @bebass and ordering a couple of ABZ's(I'd like to pay down some of the Christmas spending before I run the CC's back up on new Dingwalls. I'm close though, very close...)

Show me what'cha got!!

PLEASE!!!:D

I don't do anything fancy like 6 string basses. I try to keep to basics:

Right now I'm fussing with this:

Have a new switching loop for the volume pedal, a micro graphic EQ arriving today, a Dr. Scientist Frazz Dazzler 2 (will replace the Dano Marshall clone) on the way in along with a CS12. Waiting for My Noisemaker Nebula to be fixed and will replace the micro delay/echoes and I have a preorder on the TCE Crescendo which will take the place of the Slow Engine (Slow Gear clone).

I'm a huge fan of all of your basses. The rasta burst continues to be one of the coolest basses ever posted on Talkbass. I have one of the original NG-2 5 strings but would love to try the three pickup version. I bet it sounds great. And the purple color is fantastic.

Best Wishes,
Bones

For some reason, I don't see very many redburst Dingwalls around. I love 'em!
Thanks Spirit. Yeah i love red basses....not so much fiesta reds...but the deep or trans ones...i think i need some more of them though. I also prefer maple FBs and i think i own one of those. So next on the radar list will be BEM and red bass. Thanks for talking me into it!

Thanks! I like it too, although I've been really into the NG lately, which says a lot about how nice they are. The 'sleeper' of the bunch is the Voodoo Prima, which has modern FD3's and modern switching and an OBP-2.

I've been goofing with the 3 pickup setup and I've had it wired in reverse of the usual 3x. It's been a mixed bag. Running neck-middle in series I've found that while it sounds fantastic, it's clipping my signal chain somewhere along the line when I dig in. I have a feeling that it may be due to the motion of the string in that region it's blowing out the pickups with signal and deeper lows. I lowered them all a full turn to see if that would alleviate the symptom and it did a little. Also with the amount of bass content in that region of the scale length, It puts you in the position to need to work the preamp EQ flat or cut bass. Other than that, it sounds fantastic. ;) Still playing around with that. And awaiting a P-Tone which may further revise the situation.

You're welcome! Always ready to stir up the old DAS, that's me. ;) ;) ;) Fiesta Red doesn't 'do it' for me either...

I have probably posted this old photo before. 2007 SJ4 / 2005 ABII-5 with 2013 fretless neck / 2006 ABI-6. The sixer now has a maple/maple neck made in about 2013.

Is your SJ/P active? seems to have a switch on the control plate

Dumb question:

Do you get a lot of flack for using "botique" basses when playing reggae? I have a few friends who tour with reggae bands and they're all very conservative when it comes to gear.

Nah, not really. I think people are sort of stunned by them, so they forget to be offended. Players usually are more interested in trying one out. There is a lot of vintage worship going on, but sometimes that's out of the armchair/weekenders not the legit players. For instance we played with the Wailers on Tuesday, their bassist (not Fams) was playing a LTD bass. Sagittarius' bass player was playing an Ibanez 5 last few times we played with them.

I see a lot of reggae bass players playing Ibanez basses when they're on tour in Europe :D
