Dio

I saw him live with Heaven and Hell a little bit back. Before that I was in the "if it ain't Ozzy, it ain't Sabbath" school of thought, but seeing him perform live gave me a much better appreciation for his work. He worked extremely hard at interacting with the crowd and put everything he had into every minute of the show. Great stage presence and obviously loves his work.

Here's to a fast recovery and ten thousand more shows as good as the one I saw.

The "funny" thing is he may have been quite a bit older than reported. All of the legal documents from his adult lifetime in metal have a birthdate about ten years later than the one on his birth certificate.

yeah, i've heard that too. he was active professionally as early as the late 50's, iirc. remember seeing him in the early 80's, was an awesome show he put on.

Message from Wendy Dio

Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.
