And what's so good about these vs the post upgrade versions? I'm not trying to troll you. I have one of the early ones ..... just always read that the later ones were better.

… the early ones are almost always consistently lighter, the neck is a slightly thinner profile without the Posi-Flex rods, the headstock adjust truss rod is much easier access, the heavy BA-II is not my cup of tea, I much prefer the lighter, true vintage threaded saddle bridge, and the first 3 years of this model do not have the GreaseBucket tone circuitry …

Bottom line, it's all subject to component/user preferences, but having had several of both versions, the early stayed here longer (still have one) … both are good, the early ones are just my preference (and they were $200 less new) ...

Warwicks from the pre-3d bridge 80's
Whenever in the mid-late 70's those "lemon" light bodied ash P's were shipped

Anything solid wood from the mid-late70's MIJ lawsuit basses for $100 or less in the junk pile of my local pawn shops and used stores.

Reactions: Monterey Bay-ss
A bud has the old Guild two pickup version.... Badass bass...

I wish I would have snagged a new Squier Pro V, a matching black/maple Squier Dimension IV to go with my Sq Dim V, Both P and J Fender Blacktops, and a set of CAR Cali Series guitars and basses to go with my CAR Cali Series PJ...and a first run HWY 1 bass to go with my HWY 1 first run red Skrat...

I likes em all... Hi. I'm edro and I am an addict... ;)

I was just thinking about discontinued basses this morning.

What are some discontinued basses that you really like, might want to have, maybe wish they would start producing again?

Naturally there a lot of older ones... but a few newer ones that I either have or want to have, are also discontinued.

My little list:

Newer, but discontinued:
*Ibanez BTB33 (5 string 33" scale, tuned EADGC). Have, like. Discontinued a year ago, I think. Harder and harder to find.
* Music Man Big Al SSS 4 or 5 string (don't have, want, don't have enough cash for one at present, somewhat rare on used market).

Older, discontinued:
*Kubicki XFactor
*Steinberger L2

What are your discontinued favorites?

Yup, the Musicman Big Al.

Alembic Rogue
Alembic never discontinued any of their models, they even keep the templates of the custom shapes.
Some models don't have a product page on their site (fi Spoiler/Persuader, Elan, Distillate etc.) but Mica said she's working on that :hyper: (though that was a couple of years ago)
