I do miss the Hamer Cruise. And Robin Rangers/Jaybirds. Standard US made J-basses, but very high quality. Those companies worked hard to keep themselves a step ahead of Fender.

I owned a Carvin LB50. I thought that was an extremely high quality, great playing and versatile bass.
It would have to be the Peavey B Quad . I regret selling mine.
Recalled 2 more Ibanez I wish were still being made:
- Ibanez Musician (excluding the exorbitantly priced 30th anniversary model released a few years ago)
- In 1992, Ibanez offered the American Master series with really nice tops MAB5QM (Quilted Maple), MAB5FM (Flamed Maple), MAB5BE (Birds Eye Maple).
MIJ/CIJ Fender 62' jazz bass medium (32") scale. Very cool basses - especially for us vertically-challenged players 
Well, in the case of Hamer, they were bought by Fender and closed down. Which, though effective, isn't very sporting.
I was lucky to find a Greg Curbow Petite 6 in my classifieds a few years back. It's one of my favorites and definitely a keeper, but more on the heavy side due to the use of Rockwood.
