I'm looking seriously at getting into the looping/solobass stuff and the ditto 4X is on my short list along with the infinity, the boomerang, and maybe one of the boss pedals. I'm looking at adding a beat buddy as well so I do want something with midi capabilities. As I understand it, those without the quantize feature can be forced into that with an external midi device (like the beat buddy).

I haven't tried syncing to a midi clock but apparently it works with a beat buddy based on seeing a video of someone doing it. The effects are fun but wish you could control the parameters on the fade and tape effects. The hold effect is really unique and surprisingly useful and musical once you figure it out. I can try answer any questions anyone has.

I noticed there is one for sale here at talkbass for 200$ which is really cool.. Are you selling it? I guess not maybe.. It's hard to switch tabs and check on the phone..
Am looking forward to being able to put in a 2 bar bass percussion loop and then play a whole 32 bar form on top of it heh I missed that in most loopers out there

Quick question: In 'sync' mode, does the Ditto quantize the two loop channels together? No quantize is possibly a deal-breaker for me. I know, practice makes perfect, but I wanna be playing music not messing around with pedals and worrying about my loops drifting out of time.

It quantizes in the sense that the second loop has to be exactly the same length or a multiple of the first loop. Very handy for a short percussion loop and then a longer loop. For true quantization you'll need to go the midi route.

Thanks man. That's good news.

I didn't quite ask the second half of the question right though. My bad.

So, if I've recorded stuff to Loop 1 and some overdub layers to Loop 2, then drop Loop 2 out for a while before bringing it back in, is it my responsibility to bring it back in bang on time or can I push the button just before the down beat and let the unit take care of the timing?

Just thinking that for percussive things that have to be BANG on time, some quantization here would be super helpful if you're trying to shred your way into the drop!

It's probably the most balanced feature set in a looper for the price out there. So happy with mine. I mainly do ambient looping and this pedal is so perfect for that. I recommend playing with the four dipswitches to get the best results. I got the cleanest sound by switching to buffered bypass(foot switch noise :( ) and flipping the switch that changes the loop switch to record>overdub>play to get the most seemless loops. It's not perfect but it's so flexible and the new firmware for it is almost ready. If you want to try the beta firmware go to TC Electronics forum.

I have the Ditto x4. Just now figuring it out. It has more features than the x2. I especially like the feature where the second loop can be automatically synchronize in terms of bar measures, with the first loop. As someone else indicated, one use for this is to record a short "percussion" loop, like palm slaps on your bass. The second loop will synchronize no matter how many bar measures you want to add. However, I was unable to erase single overdubs - only all overdubs. I emailed TCE and they sent me a link to a beta firmware update which will hopefully fix this problem.

Are you pushing the button after you are done with each overdub layer to "lock it in"? If you decide to do multiple overdubs on the same pass when you Undo it will erase everything you did after starting overdub mode.
