DIY Cabs--Source for plans, components, etc.?

Thanks for the plug. The site is new, though all of the designs in it have been published over the last 4 years or so.

As to the general idea of building your own boxes, even if you just build a simple box you'll save a lot of money over commercial gear, provided you don't pay music store prices for your drivers. Go to www.partsexpress.com to see what you should be paying.

If you're an experienced enough woodworker you can build not only inexpensive speakers but also speakers that you can't approach with commercial gear. Sophisticated designs are labor intensive in their construction and that doesn't translate into profits for the average manufacturer trying to keep retail prices below a grand, which means that wholesale is $500 and he can't afford to build it for more than $200 to make any money on it. What you can build for $200 you couldn't possibly buy for less than $2000 street price.

EV sent me some designs for the TL-606 cabinets which were designed for their EVM 15L drivers (the older 200W ones, I don't know how they would perform with the newer 400W version). I had a friend build me two exactly to specs and I thought they were great cabs (heavy though). I sold the cabs to a couple of buddies, miss them too.
I still have the plans if anybody's interested.

The T-S parameters are the same for the 400 watters, should work fine. I still gig near-copies, slightly adjusted for better stackage with my other gear.

Are the plans in electronic form? My scan is pretty sketchy, I could use a better copy. mailto: charliejane @gorge.net

No, the plans were mailed to me by EV.

I dug them out of a box buried in the closet last night, but I need to get them scanned. I work with computers and peripherals (including scanners), but I don't have access to a scanner at the moment. Before too long I'll get them scanned and get back with you, I'll put them up for anybody that wants them.

It looks like I've got a lot here with the 303, 405, 505, 606, 606Q, 806, 806Q, 4025, & 4050 plans. Plus four pages of specs on the 15L and a brochure about the B115-M and B215-M (both of which I used to own). A lot of good info and some good plans.

It may take awhile to get them scanned, but when I do I'll let you know.
