DIY Fender P using Fender replacement parts!

Ok, you don't need a 'bunch' of parts fir no.5 just a neck pickup, body, PG, bridge, and pots. Is that a bunch?

Well, I also have an Epi EB0 neck pickup, three pots, and an Epi 3-point bridge, so with a body and PG, I could make a real Frankenstein's monster.

Nah! It works, and the whole point of this is to get a new bass without spending any money.

Dang! I don't need the temptation. I have an MIM Jazz neck (with tuners), a set of 3 knobs, and a DiMarzio Model J bridge pickup lying around, but I already have 4 basses.

Please tell me I don't need to buy a bunch of parts to make number 5.

10000 IQ play. Can't hate on a bridge you can't see ;P. What's under the cover? An ironic Gibson 3-pointer or a futuristic bridge so innovative that our heads would explode at its exposure!? The world may never know. Schroedingers bridge ;P

Well... thanks to @LowEndLobster and this thread and his youtube video I now have my first P Bass. That day I started ordering parts and they've all arrived. It's come out great! I'm actually very happy with the tone as well. Very dark but still punchy in the mids. It's a player body with a roasted Maple neck and a vintera pickup and pots.

I'm actually very happy with the tone as well. Very dark but still punchy in the mids. It's a player body with a roasted Maple neck and a vintera pickup and pots.

Came out really nice, the black hardware was a good call it's a great lookin bass! Glad you decided to pull the trigger on it...

Thank you! I'm loving it, took a gamble on the neck profile but the modern C works great for me. I'd only played the old baseball bat profiles on one's I had tried before.

Where did you find Vintera electronics fo sale? At the Stratosphere?
