All true statements; except it should be noted that James Newell Osterberg Jr. (Iggy Pop) was born in 1947. Definitely not an early Gen Xer, and without whose artistic vision the Ramones would not exist as we know them (if at all):
"I bought the first Stooges album at Alexander's as soon as I saw the cover. I just liked the way they looked: tough. I might have read something before that, but nothing prepared me for the music on that album. I was crazy for it the same way I had been when I first heard those first rock and roll 45s from the jukebox." - Johhny Ramone
Nor would Malcolm McLaren have asked the young Mr. Lydon (Rotten) to join his (commercially motivated) pet project (The Sex Pistols) based solely upon his outward appearance during an accidental meeting. Curious, also, that Lydon's own project would be named Public Image LTD... Maybe more tongue in cheek than is initially obvious?
Point being - let's just all be careful to provide Boomer and/or Creation credits to those individuals who actually earned them in the first place... Not the ones who followed them closely behind the closing door.
And for the record- I am not a Boomer myself, but Gen X
I saw The Stooges in Boston in 1969.
