Do Noble DIs appreciate in price?

Greed and opportunism? The prices I see for used Nobles are insane.

Yep, they’re identical for the most part. It’s an excellent device that I’ll probably never part with.
There is a long waitlist and you can pay extra to get on the expedited list, if there are slots. So, used prices will be higher than new prices as long as there is a long wait list.
For me it’s not when I still have a Reddi

I can't imagine not using my Noble. Had it six years and I use it for everything. DI tracking. Through powered speaker for tracking. You can always resell it quickly if it's not what you had in mind. Of course, if you went that direction, you'd probably be out of your mind!
If Noble catches up with demand, the "appreciation" you're talking about will vanish in a heartbeat.
The JDI sounded awful close to the Noble in that shootout. I could be very happy with that and a grand in my pocket
Apples and orange. I've used a JDI for years and recently got a used Noble. The Noble has fatness for miles the JDI doesn't come anywhere near.
You watched some youtube shootout and I've used both in the real world. To each his own indeed.

Here's a different question: if I'm using it for recording, but I already run through an interface (Scarlett 18i8), is there much point in having a Noble or a REDDI or something like that? (REDDI is available as a plug in, and I am having fun with a trial version of it, but I don't know enough about what I am doing to decide if it's overkill...)

Yes, there is a point if you want the sound that the device in question imparts. The REDDI (and comparable tube DIs such as the ZOD and Noble) will noticeably colour the tone.
