Do people not like Acoustic amps.

Thats why you need a good ol' USA made classic.
Like the one I just finished restoring.
I love it and it sounds AMAZING!!!

Brain Capital??? The company that owns Guitar Center. Really? What does that have to do with Acoustic Amps?

Acoustic Amps. Cheap house brand amps at GC. They are supposed to me marketed to entry level buyers. They are aimed at the same market that buys Squires. That's all.

Well, at least the market that buys Squiers knows how to spell "Squiers." :hiding:

And FWIW, Squiers are actually very giggable basses these days, especially when carefully set up by a qualified tech, or an owner who knows the ins and outs of dressing frets, adjusting action, pickup height, intonation, etc.

And Acoustics are pretty giggable as well.

Glad to see this thread got revived after a month. The amp in question is still for sale on my local CL. It's a B200H 200W head paired with a B115 250W 1x15. I appreciate all your comments. I still don't know if I want to get it.

Okay well in gonna chime in here. Im a SPECTOR guy not a squire guy.
I bought a 600h head and 410 cab to replace my ampeg cabs and carvin head. I also run a eeek Behringer Bass Vamp. Pro as a preamp.

To me using a SVT setting from the preamp I got from Dug Pinnick of Kings X I will absoutely state the tone was better thru the Acoustic cab than the two Ampegs I owned. Im not getting into what cabs and one was super hot rodded its all about what tone you like.

I have done some worm to my basses and know exactly what im lokking for and the acoustic wiyh preamp sounds awesome very clear bottom end on the B and or E string and a nice criso clear sound especially wh3n used with a chorus. Now without the preamp the sound is very neutral but thats what I want to let my preamp do the work. My volumes never go past 3. The stage is rattling at this level so I see no need to push more. For the money to me itbwas more than worth it to obtain this and has beeen perfect for me for what I wanna use it for.

That being said go with sounds good to you and the sound you want. If its Acoustic great awesome if its Peavey another brand I like rock it brother. If u prefer Phil Jones with a expensive head and preamp so be it.

On here you have gear snobs 2hich is fine everyone is entitled. You have bashers which is fine also. Then you have people who like one thing and nothing quite matches up to it. Thats also cool. Everyone is diff. Ones mans garbage can be anothers holy grail.

Mine works fine and set up the way it is id put it up against way more expensive stuff the way I have it set up anytime.

Thats being said I am actually going yo eden cabs because I had a chance to play thru one with my acoustic and behringer. Got mega compliments on my sound from band I was jammin with and people who heard it. Eden cabs match up perfectly with my spectors for the tone I want. But I will keep my acoustic head and use 410 for practice.

I hope no hammers me for my opinions bug I choose to defend Acoustic. Now old Acoustic is even better but thats anothe whole.

Ill end by saying besides Sarzo Flea uses 3 600h heads and 810 cabinets live or did for a while. Enuff said. I supllied pic of my rig. Good luck in your choice ajd remember its the sound u wanna get and what we all say in the end means nothing if ur happy.

Did you do any modeling and reverse engineering to the HLF before you dropped Mesa speakers in it ?

You can't just throw speakers in a box and expect great results.

Maybe that is why the Acoustic cabs sound better to you.

I use a B20 for at home noodling and it works just fine...in fact I quite like it. Muche louder than you'd expect. I rarely turn it past the 10 o'clock position. That being said when i was in the market for some new cabs (on a budget,) I took a look at the Acoustic stuff just to give them a fair shake. The 410 I tried out was alright, it didn't seem to have much character nor was it overly clean it was just kinda....there. Through some EQ'ing and/or effects I would have had no issue gigging it. The 115 with the bottom shelf ports was just awful. Murky and bland would be giving it praise. I tried P's, J's, Ibby's, and a Spector. I could get zero useful tone from it. MAYBE if you needed all thump and no tone/note definition you could make it work, but for anything else...no...just no.

I don't have any experience with the heads as I run a pre/power setup.

I'm considering an Acoustic B200h amp with a matching 1x15 cab for sale on my local CL. Did a search on TB and found very few threads on Acoustic amps. I realize they may not be as popular as Hartke or Gallien Krueger. Do people just not like Acoustic.

Acoustic are good, but Ampeg is better. And some other brands are too.

I have an Acoustic B200 that I got at GC for fairly short money for a brand-new amp, $250, and it's ideal for home practice. It might not have the tonal quality of an Eden or GK, but if you're woodshedding in the basement, it's perfect.

Would I gig with it? Right now, sure, since it's my only game in town. :) Will I down the road? If I get in a band, then I'll probably invest in something more robust, but I wouldn't have an issue bringing this one on a stage with me.

Vintage Acoustic.. GC Acoustic or Acoustic U S A ..The first shares heritage with new Acoustic U S A .

GC Acoustic ..GC bought the rights to the name..otherwise it is an entirely different beast from Vintage and A C USA.

With that said, I own vintage a 1974 A C 370 head as well as (2) GC Acoustic B200's..Combo and seperate head/ Cab unit.

I LOVE THEM ALL.

I have posted here so many times that in my use and opinion.. GC Acoustic ...B200 and up, is the best bang for the $$ out there. Tons of tone..Semi parametric tone bank, DI-out... variety of cab choices, No issues with B-string farting..and I tried them ALL...GC Acoustic won hands-down over all brands available.

In 2009, I wanted a powerful yet light weight combo. I tried boutique amp names as well as the usual top 5.. All failed either in weight or B-string failure. Then I tried the GC Acoustic B2OO Combo...SOLD!

If I was a 'rock star', I would gladly purchase Acoustic
U S A products as well.

Vintage AC products are highly sought after, with the main (3) being 361, 371 and 320/ 408..all with very heavy 'old school' cabinets..and enough power to eat guitar stacks for snacks. Pretty much any of them will handle a 2 ohm load.

MODS AND OTHERS CONCERNED..I am not at all business affiliated. I am only a satisfied product user.

According to the story in Bass Player Magazine, Guitar Center owns the rights to the name, as well as the contract of George Grexa, who re-engineered the new Acoustic 360. Those were formerly held by Samick.

"In 2006 after a three-year process Grexa landed the rights to build and sell American-made Acoustics worldwide. Within a year, however, Samick had sold the Acoustic name (and Grexa's contract) to Guitar Center. Grexa's company, GPG/Acoustic USA (www . acousticbassusa . com), owns the rights to produce Acoustic products, and Guitar Center must approve anything GPG does with the name "Acoustic" on it.

So, they're sorta the same thing, kinda, a little, well, vaguely … One wonders if they'll be merging the two lines into one group with a budget-friendly line of products and a top-of-the-shelf line, similar to the business model Fender uses with Squier.

Jaco Pastorius along with John Paul Jones.Doors, Santana[ see Woodstock footage].and many..many other famous musicians used [ vintage/ original] Acoustic 361..1968-1972?

As for GC Acoustic and Grexa's Acoustic U S A ?? ...JACO Pastorius died many..many years before Grexa's dream came true.

There is a video of one of Jacos sons playing the new 361however.

....Just bad luck and timing..

While Grexa was working dilligently on his 361 project during testing, coinicidentally G C bought the rights to the name, shopped out their amp to China and released the GC Acoustic before Grexa could release his.

SO... Grexa in order to properly ' fly the flag' had to sign on or deal with in some way with GC in order to use the name ACOUSTIC n his products, even though he employs the actual original design team of the REAL Acoustic Control Corp.

Sadly, I don't forsee the day when George and GC can work together and more easily supply the world with one of the mnore awesome bass amps EVER built..and at a more affordable cost.

George won't compromise and GC won't give in, so.. there we have it.

(2) Awesome amps.. one very affordable and one at boutique pricing.
