As a guy who only seems to get along with P and J basses though, it's not for me.

I really like my Bongo 5, and it is by far the most versatile Bass in my collection.

I hate anything affiliated with Chris Bangle. Bongo bass is among his feats of aesthetic sadism.

I had an E60 5 series. Admittedly the rear end was a head-scratcher at the time. Looked fine with the sport package wheels and tires though, and the car was a missile. My favorite of the 3 BMWs I've had.

If I were looking at a six stringer, the Bongo would be at or near the top of my list. I do tend to find them a bit weird looking, but all 6 string basses look weird to me. I don't think i'd consider a Bongo 4 or 5 stringer, though. Too many other options.

I'm sure that they're quality instruments, however I find them to be aesthetically . . . unattractive. Still, I'd rock a dargie or purple sparkle one, but only if I were in a blues band. I've been known to bring a purple sparkle Adam Clayton Jazz bass to the local blues jam a time or two.

IMO, Bongos play and sound fabulous like pretty much all EBMM basses I have tried. The appearance takes a little getting used to, but after a while that spaceship-cum-toilet-seat aesthetic acquires a distinctly offbeat appeal. I would love to acquire a six-string version in silver.

No. Some may not like the looks (me) but no hate involved.

I think it's become a classic shape to me , they've been around for 16 or 17 years now . Oh I made fun of them at first and then everybody started raving about what a great bass they were .

The look is not for everyone, but they feel and sound great. I owned one briefly and only sold it because it was too heavy. The only other thing I didn't like about it was the shape of the lower horn did not sit well on my leg when played sitting.

I think they look best in attention grabbing colours.

Loved the tone and looks of the one I owned. I didn’t get along with the neck profile that well though. I prefer wide and flat. I sold it to help fund a custom build. I still like bongos , just couldn’t make it work for a “main player” spot.

I've been lucky enough to own some of the best basses ever made and I still miss the Bongo 4 HH that I sold a few years ago.

They're great instruments.

I don't think that someone's disposition about Bongos is sufficient data to otherwise characterize that person. Saying that "some people don't like Bongos because (personality trait)..." is a bit much.
