do people really hate ebmm bongo bass?

They look totally cool when someone is playing one in a kickass band. I'm a traditional guy, but I'd play one in a heartbeat! I still miss my EBMM Sterling HS...EBMM makes terrific instruments.
People who don’t like them tend to be very vocal. I guess it’s fun to hate on the best mass produced active bass on the market? I dunno. Internet people can be weird. 
I've never met a bassist who'd actually played one that hated it. I truly miss mine (sold it for the upright in my profile pic). It was the most complimented bass in looks and sound I've ever had in 30+ years of playing. IMO, the only people who "hate" it are internet trolls who've never actually played or seen one in person.
I picked one up in Sam ash and had to leave the store before I bought it, it fit like a glove to my body, I may buy one in the future, I don’t like the back of the neck being painted but ...

I owned a Reflex... ordered it to my specs. It had terrible neck dive, pretty disappointed for how much money I spent on it. My two Bongos on the other hand, ergonomically fantastic, great necks on them, great tone, and look awesome too. Never understood the toilet seat comments, doesn't look like one to me.
I had one. Got it as a made to order deal where I went to my local musicman dealer and ordered the pickup configuration, finish, and hardware I wanted. It looked amazing. I just didn’t like anything else about it. Didn’t like the sound or how it hung odd on me. It almost felt like a short scale and I had to hold the bass away from my body to play the upper frets because it hung too far to my right side for my taste. It sounded decent. I wouldn’t say it sounded terrible but I was hoping for it to sound more like the SR5s than it did. It’s really a drastically different bass than a stingray. Not only different body wood and shape but the electronics are different. Stringrays have ceramic pickups, bongos have neodymium. The pickups look similar but they aren’t the same.
There are versions that don't have painted necks. My Dargie II is painted, my Starry Night is not.

They're really good, pre-amp needs an internal volume though. It's way too hot man.
I have one and it is a great bass but I've decided I don't like playing 5 string. No luck trying to sell it. I play it once in a while and it is a killer bass. Firemist gold:

To each his/her own. They sound great and being EBMM are certainly excellent quality, but the aesthetics are not for me at all.
