Do ya wear it high, or sling it low...?

Its totally functional for me - I adjust my strap such that when I play standing, each of my wrists have the least amount of angle to them. Somewhere in the middle. Too high and your right wrist suffers, too low and its the left that suffers. I am still young but very concerned about developing arthritis later on.

And anyone who thinks their strap length has anything to do with coolness levels is lame. :ninja: :D

I'd love to see pics of said bass

i don't wear my bass over my shoulder.

the strap i use is short enough for me to use as a belt. my bass is made of aluminum and incredibly heavy. (sounds amazing though.)

i moved my strap buttons from the typical locations (heel and top horn, though my bass has a gibson RD body style so there is no top horn) to the back, behind the top horn location.

this ordinarily extremely neck heavy/diving bass now balances perfectly and no longer screws my back up from playing. plus, the locations of the strap buttons allow much easier swiveling for reaching higher positions since i no longer have to take all of the weight of the neck in my left hand.

i just look weird playing it on this truss bass guitar belt. whatever. function over form.

High for me ..... too many strings to wear it low ....

Wow, I thought I was looking at Donald Sutherland for a second!

i guess this is medium high? haha amazingly it used to be higher - i have been slowly lowering it for about a year. and NOW i finally read all these posts about it being in the same spot for sitting/standing - that's about exactly where it is. feels super comfy - to each their own !

ps. cant explain the bassface - intense scowling/concentration? and i need to straighten out that pinky! holy crap it doesnt usually do that!

I dare you to try slapping this way: hahahaha

For me I would say medium, with the neck angled up-too high is awkward (as is too low) unless I want to do nothing but slap. Its easier, but not necessary, with slapping so your thumb can be parallel with the strings. Still possible to slap without the bass on your chin...... That's just the way I'm comfortable

Mine is kinda low, it works for me but it will probably end up hurting me later.

OH YEAH!! Take it from me, a guy w/ neck and back issues (car wrecks, power lifting, and martial arts)..... you are a chiropractor's poster boy (no offense) for how NOT to hold a bass. Looks cool, but the right shoulder slump (lower than left) so you can reach to pick (I guess), and the forward curve in your upper spine with the neck/head angle....OUCH!! If I stood that way for 15 minutes, I'd be screwed up for days!! The stuff you do to your body now DEFINITELY haunts you years later.

Sorry dude....just would hate to see somebody in the predicament I'm in. I'm healthy enough, but a chronic neck/back issue aint cool!!
