Do you believe in ghosts?

I don't care how you label me, but I do remember your thinly veiled barbs in your "those that can, do" thread.

As for moving on 'like a man'? Er...wasn't it you that brought up the 'spooning' comment I made (months ago) just the other day?

And actually, by mixing units, I meant that you quoted speed in mph and mass in g.

Anyway, it's all good in the hood....I woke up to a shiny new trophy for getting 100 'likes'....which makes me...er....hang on, let's see if my Physics degree can help with the numbers here...er...er....just about five times more likeable than you.

:D

In answer to:

^ Paragraph one: ghosts DO exist.

^ Paragraph two: GHOSTS DO EXIST!

WE PROVED IT TITUS! :D /thread

^ P four, I'm a CFO so luckily I was able to get that one.

There are a few who interpret quantum mechanics like that, but it's not what the prevalent Copenhagen Interpretation means. For it to be true it would mean consciousness has some magical property rather than it being an emergent property (a ghost in the machine) of a series of fluctuations in chemical and electrical states and messages in the brain. Emergent behaviour also appears in ant hills but you wouldn't say an ant hill is conscious.

One quantum mechanical interpretation is that all things are possible at once, and our observation simply allows a projection of this into a form we can perceive. An example might be if you close one eye. The world is in three dimensions, but now you are perceiving a two dimensional projection of the real three dimensional world. The world hasn't become two dimensional, though. Another analogy would be solving a differential equation for a spherical body (which makes it easy) then converting that to cartesian coordinates, and one that is a better analogy for the underlying mathematics.

The issue with that interpretation is that it means all possibilities of all possible outcomes of everything for all time are always present so how does the universe know we all want the same projection into our perceptions? Hence E from Eels' father's many universes interpretation that each time a projection is created the universe is split into one with one projection, one with another, and we inhabit only one of those projections or universes. I have no idea how you would test this.

Thanks for the explanation. I've been trying to read more about the topic and wrapping my head around it.

Stick at it, you'll get there eventually.
I liked you just now on shear attitude. You are fairly likable Titus, really the only difference I have with you is on religion but I don't get all jacked over that.....some of the people I love the most are atheists and other classic "sinners". You generally fight pretty fair unless provoked in a nasty fashion. If I was umpiring the pissing match I would say you're not the one keeping it going and a lot more of your "Stream" is hitting the bowl as opposed to some-birdy who is making the wall, floor and his shoes dirty. And he hasn't even shaken yet!

Yeah...real tough with all that padding. Handbags at five paces. The girls of Liverpool dish out more punishment than those girls.
Ha, ha ha you are fun guy I can tell. When we played football in the 60 and 70, when I was young we play with no pad or helmets and yeah tackle bruised and batter no big deal. I did not use pads until High school football. You're sadly mistaken if you think pads stopped you from getting hurt because when the other guy has on the pads too and gives it his all, it is like getting hit by a car you are talking about a 218 lb guy (me in high school) on the power lifting team with 20-30 lbs of football equipment hitting you like a freight train (pic) me in High school #81 when I hit you knew you were hit sorry for the high jack people

There are a great many sports that require the participant to be physically tough. I played hockey at the collegiate level and a lot of the guys I played with were pretty tough. I have a friend who has played rugby for years and they can dish out a lot of punishment as well. Football (American) players? Usually pretty rugged individuals. Well, maybe except for kickers/punters.

Ooookeyy! Just to change back from Logo channel to the Syfy channel here is another part of my souls/dark energy "theory". How it get to and into us?

Dark energy travels with the EM waves that come from the sun, it travels from hot to cold. So during the day earth is being charge with dark energy which gets into food, water and air and of course in to us. We pass it to our descendants through our genes. During the night when the earth becomes hotter than the air the dark energy, that comes from people that died that day, travels back up. In normal length nights dark energy can travel high enough that any reminiscences, like memories, of the body it inhabited are erased, but in places where the nights are shorter dark energy is sent back to earth to quick so some carry back memories from it's older bodies and these are then absorbed by us humans, hence we have things like déjà vu, re encarnation, etc...

This also explains why during the night is when you have more ghost sightings and also why in places where nights are shorter people have experienced more re incarnation like phenomenums.

Of course this is all part a much larger study that I made up :) and it's just meant to be funny and at the same time to make us think a little bit.

Just so no one is confused this isn't actually a theory. More delusional rambling than anything.

Interesting experiences you went through there. I've never had any personal experiences, but believe that some people have the ability to see these things while I don't. My wife is one of those that do along with her daughter and son. She's had numerous sightings of deceased family members and is also prone to premonitions that seem to invariably come true. My 80 year old aunt has come down with pneumonia. Before I told her about this she mentioned a dream she had had where she was searching for a black dress. This has given me more concern for my aunt, but she sent me an email this a.m. and seems as cantankerous as ever, so maybe she'll be ok, but I've learned from past experiences to take heed to her dreams and premonitions (none about horse races, unfortunately, but it's amazing how big she wins in slots!). My wife's son is somewhere around genius level IQ (as the daughter is as well, proof that I wasn't involved in the genetic mix), level headed, conservative, not given to %#&*%@# around. When he was maybe 6, he got up early to cook breakfast for his mom on mother's day. He came running into the bedroom, hopped under the covers shaking, pale, and semi hysterical. He'd seen a lady in a red gown floating up the stairs, going up them but not stepping. My wife and daughter had also had like experiences in this house but nothing so traumatic. I've always believed that if I saw an apparition of some kind that I could be matter of fact about it, but in actual experience, I'd probably %&#@ my pants.
True to my wife's dream my aunt passed today. We were there when it happened. I was talking to her when I noticed my wife look oddly over to the door and then immediately at my aunt. She died a few seconds after this. My wife told me that she'd glanced over at the door and seen my (deceased 2 years ago) dad standing there. He then seemed to move quickly out of the doorway. When she looked over at my aunt, she'd passed away.
