Do you like covers on your bass?

Can anyone clarify whether these are two different styles of P covers? One seems more flat on top, while the other seems to have more of a curve....View attachment 974693 View attachment 974694

I believe the rounded types started showing up around in the later mid 70s. That's what I figured out over the years. I could certainly be wrong.

i like things that match my p bass and my stingray are both vintage sun burst and have black pick guards.

On most of my basses, no.... but sometimes. you GOTTA have 'em!

I like having the cover there for similar reasons Will Lee described in a recent interview on YouTube with Roger Sadowsky: I rest my hand on the cover when slapping or playing with a pick. Feels comfy for me.
I can't have the bridge cover on a j bass because I like to pluck over the bridge pup.

I greatly dislike the aesthetics of covers. In terms of function I purely and absolutely detest them.

But if you like them you do whatever.

I understand why some of you think they get in the way of your playing, but that's not a universal truth. James Jamerson did OK playing a P-Bass with covers.

I love them. I put them on my 70s Jazz to make it look a bit nicer and I will never take them off. It was my first bass, so I learned to play around them. The neck cover is a really good place to rest your thumb. Without them, it just feels weird and I don't really know where to play. Plus, they look amazing!

Waiting for this one to arrive in the mail... will probably swap out the F bridge cover for a plain one I have as to not upset the Fender fanboys.

At firstp it was tough adjusting to covers but now I've adapted and love the look! Also have a P with a pup cover
