Do you use fEARful?

I usually don't run through our PA, which carries mainly vox and drums. My LDS 15/6 is for the bar gigs a hobbyist like me plays- this is low brow stuff. However, I can tell you that the LDS 15/6 will fill any venue a 410 will fill, as loudly, deeper and clearer than any 410 I have tried. Under my M9 that box filled a 300 seat hotel ballroom (my biggest gig) with ease, and no PA.

Your post started to sound exactly like the posts that a lot of people get all fired up over, until you added "than any 410 I have tried Lot's of statements that the FFs will blow away any cab that's twice as big, or my FF will kill any 810, etc. That was the puddle I stepped into originally (won't do it again I promise).

Which 410s have you gigged with the M9 that the LDS blew away out of curiosity??

I'm not lomo, but my homebuilt 15/6/1 has outperformed (in depth, clarity, cleanness, and volume): SWR Goliath II 410, Eden 410XLT, Genz Benz Uber 410T, Schroeder 210212, Aguilar S 410. Also all 212s, 210s, 115s, and 118s I've used.

The 15/6/1 goes deeper and cleaner than any 810 I've ever heard, but I don't think anybody claims that a good 810 isn't louder than a 15/6/1.

I currently use a fEARful 15/6/1 for larger gigs and a fEARless F112 for small to medium gigs. By far the best cabs I have ever used.

Used them with GB Streamliner 900, 1966 Fender Blackface Showman, Trace Elliott SMX350, Mesa Boogie Buster 200, 1970 Marshall 100w Super Lead and a 1978 Ampeg V4-B. In each case, the fingerprint of each amp comes through loud and clear and at what seems to be much higher volume with absolutely no farting from the cab. Now, tube overdrive is another thing!

Every bassist should use whatever components they want. As for me, I've found my cabs.

You ever used them together?

I am a huge fEARful fan, but I would never claim that a 15/6 can out do an 810. I have a/b'd my old 15/6 with an ampeg fridge. Just aint going to happen. However, I think they can give a 610 a good run for its money. A '66 on the other hand? Forget about it! :p

I build my 12/6 originally because my old 4x10 (SWR Goliath II) was too damn heavy. It wasn't a bad cab, but I'm getting a little older and I didn't want a cab that was around 90lbs. I won't say my 12/6 blew it out of the water, but......it did comparable volume wise with better tone. All this out of a cab (that I built) that was less than 1/2 the weight and I can carry with one hand. When I added a 12/sub, it did blow it out of the water......

But there are other great cabs (too many to list) out there, so I tell anyone who will listen. Play what you like and be happy.:D

I posted this once before and I will reposted since I think it bears repeating. This post goes for the 15/6/1 and an SWR Goliath IV 410 that I have owner and AB'd with the fEARful. As someone who has owned a SWR megoliath 810 and now has a 1515/66/1, i have done a side by side before, And i have to Say they are Both amazing Cabs!! I loved my 810 and if i was to recommend one to someone i would recommend Megoliath 810, It is one hell of a cab and can Leave you vision blurred and you pants soiled  When it come to overall volume, wouldn't say my "66" burrys the 810 in Max SPLs, But it does get stupid Loud!! At the same time my 810 could not even come close to handling a low B with a good amount of Bass and sub bass eqing at loud volumes without farting all over the place. With the 66 I can lay into a Low B at loud volumes with a massive amount of Low End EQing and not get it to burp!!

......... NOW FOR THE CATCHER!!......

In a real life setting on a large stage, I am not eqing the snot out of my lowend due to the fact that i would get nothing but a blurry mess of mud. Yes The 66 is more clean and clear than any 810 cab i have played through when it comes to eqing it low, but things still will get muddy. As someone who eqs my rig Flat across the board (i know so exciting) there is really not much of a difference between the 2, say for the Off Axis dispersion of sound from the 1515/66/1 and compared to the 810. The 66 i find to be more balanced no matter where i am on stage, and there is not much change in sound no matter where i am at which is great. Whereas the 810 had more hot and Dead spots when moving about on stage. But really in the end i stand in front of my cab most all the time anyways so that really does not affect me as much as it did my band mates.

All And All Both Cabs are Killers in their own right. For me i prefer my fEARful, and most everyone that has played through it has LOVED it...esp sound guys, but they are not for everyone the same way an 810 or a 310 or an X10 or X whatever cab is not for everyone ether! For me if there was No Such thing as a fEARful or any other such said type of Hifi 2 and 3 way cabs, I would have another 810 or 410 In a heart Beat :bassist:!! hope i did not muddy the waters even more, just want to give a real world perspective on it! Cheers All ~Elliot

very interesting. Anyone ever A/bd a 12/6 with a Bergantino 112HD? I've got two and the stack can handle 85% of my gigs but can't quite pull them all. I assumed I would need to step up to two 15s to pull them all off. I too have a bad back and need to stay somewhat lightweight....

This may be the best, most honest fEARful/810 comparison I have ever read. It is the first time I have seen someone say that I wouldn't completely chew up and swallow their 810 and that the cab does have limits.
