This is getting me very pumped to see the new episode.

Paul McGann? Man, he sure was a lot better than the "film" they featured him in.

There were a lot of good things about the film - McGann, Daphne Ashbrook, the steampunk TARDIS and the general production design. It looked great and we all wanted more of the Eighth Doctor. The story was a bit rubbish though, Eric Roberts was woeful, some of the CG effects were embarrassing (the Master-Snake thing in particular) and the whole half-human thing was apocryphal. :)

It was great to see him again, even if it was only for six minutes. I think it's actually raised the bar for Capaldi. :)

Oh forgot to say, in case anyone doesn't know or if it helps our US (and other!) friends...tomorrow night, (Thursday 21st)

BBC is doing two more specials..

BBC4 Showing the first ever episode

BBC 2 Showing a drama written by Mark Gatiss and featuring David Bradley (featured in Dr Who and is the porter in Harry Potter) playing William Hartnell called "An Adventure in Space and Time", story set around the birth of the show and described as "a love letter to the show"..

I'm off to see The Lumineers so that's another couple for the recording schedule :)

The eighth doctor was cool. I did like that TARDIS design, as well. The millenium thing, and the Master, well I'm still angry about those things, but yeah, I liked the companion, and other things.

This has probably been covered in the thread, but isn't it only 12 regenerations he can have? If so, I wonder what's going to happen after Peter Capaldi? (and where does John Hurt work in?)

There's a few possible ways they may work around that. Some were discussed a while back but basically one of the doctors rules is the doctor lies, so they may not really have a limit. Another theory is that that was just a time lord rule and since he is the last timelord it may be able to be skirted, possibly with some sort of consequence. There's no way to know til it happens but being dr who I'm sure they'll find a clever little workaround

They'll find a way around it. They always do. The Master got a whole new set of regenerations back in the day, and, it seems that technically Capaldi will actually be the 13th Doctor (including Hurt's War Doctor, and not including Ten's doppelganger, The Valeyard or any of the other "versions" of The Doctor). I expect a revelation about this either tomorrow or in the Xmas Special.

Yes. This is exactly what I was going to post.

My theory is that the '12-regenerations' is imposed by the council.

Since they're no longer around, then the rule isn't in place.

The other point is that the 'War Doctor' may not be counted as a regeneration for various reasons (watch the mini-episode).

I would love to see more McGann and John Hurt is an absolute favourite of mine, so I'm hugely looking forward to tomorrow!

EDIT: I'm amazed the 'spoiler' (spoilers, darling) code worked!
