I have now!

I have a good guess at how he's going to "fix" this little turn events and have her as his new companion, I have my theory. But, one thing I've learned with this show, is that you can expect the logical course of events, just about as frequently as you can expect the absolutely unexpected.... and I LOVE THAT!

I kinda guessed something was up when she kept 'delaying' her own rescue...and what a lovely way to finally end the millennia-old rivalry. That's gotta be no more daleks then?

Go public mate...the joy of this show is that you CAN legitimately second guess what's going on without spoiling it, because there is no other source material to draw on.

Well just wait and see, if I'm right, I'm sure to get hate mail :)
I'm just trying to behave here for any folks who may not yet have seen the season premier.

Anyway, I'll condense it to it's simplest - I think the Doc will now have to make a tough choice. He certainly has the ability to go back prior to the new companion's arrival on the asylum planet and change her fate, right? But in doing so, the daleks will no longer have forgotten him - so which does he choose? I think this conundrum is what we're going to see as the proper introduction of the new companion.

Well, if we know she's his new companion, and your theory bears fruit, then clearly we know which choice he would make.

On the one hand, I can't believe that's the last we'll see of the Daleks, but on the other, it all felt so....final?

I just love all the time travel stuff. The 'River Song is Amy's daughter' story arc was very well thought out. Marvellous.

I'm pretty sure this will be a case of "same actress-different character." In fact, I'm quite sure.

As for Doctor Who in general, I have now taken the tame to watch Dr. 1, Dr. 2, Dr. 3, and quite a few Dr 4 and Dr 6 episodes. I grew up on Baker and then Davison, but never watched the others much.

For my money, EVERY Doctor is good! It's just a great concept for a TV show! It leaves a lot of room for writers, and can be very atmospheric.

And you can NEVER assume it's the "end" of the Daleks. They've tried to end them in every series, but the public just keeps crying out for more. I thought these were some nice SCARY Daleks again, and I think the next time they come back, they will stay true to them not knowing who the Doctor is.

I think they might wait awhile before doing so, however.

The Weeping Angels were a reminder that it's always good to bring in a NEW nemesis or monster.

Look what the Borg did to bring up the excitement in Star Trek TNG! That show was getting super lame when they brought them in!

It's been all but confirmed that the new companion's name is Clara, not Oswin, so, I suspect there's going to be some weird timey-wimey explanation that links the two, like the Doctor's explanation about why Gwen from Torchwood looks just like Gwyneth from The Unquiet Dead (series 1, ep 3)- other than the fact they were both played by Eve Myles :D .

The new companion is called Clara Oswald. The character in the new episode was called Oswin Oswald. There is a link, but we'll have to wait til Xmas to see how the writers connect the two...

I thought Asylum was better, purely because of the Oswin puzzle...

I watched "Asylum of the Daleks" four times. It got better with repeated viewings.

I now think it's one of the best episodes of the entire show.

I don't know how they managed to do all that in 45 minutes, or however long it was.

"Eggs? Are these things eggs?"

Oh man.

As for "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship," it was a much different kind of episode, and just as good, but in a different way.

I am LOVING this season!

How cool is Rory's dad?

As for the Doctor's merciless streak, there have always been hints of it. I like it.

That pirate killed for fun, and sport, and to show power.

And his death ensured the Doctor, and his companions' survival.

I didn't have an issue with it.

You don't kill a Triceratops on a spaceship just to prove a point.

You just don't do that.

This is what happens to The Doctor when he travels without companions - see the 2009 specials, especially in The Waters Of Mars - he gets arrogant and more than a little merciless. Eleven's portrayal of that is a bit different to Ten's, but it's still the same symptom. He needs human companions to "humanise" him.

I became a fan of the Doctor during the Tom Baker era. I, too, caught the episodes on PBS. When they revamped the series with Chris Eccleston (and Rose..drool) I became addicted again. I loved David Tennant's role as the Doctor. I was sad when he left. The special with David and Colin Baker was priceless.
