Does anyone care about strap color?

I'm with the Black Strap Brigade.
That said, if anyone knows where I'd find a wide padded black/white chequered strap I'd be tempted.
I also have a silly notion that a neon orange strap, coupled with matching socks and bow tie, might make for a good luck...possibly with a black suit...

Currently, I'm using Mono Betty straps in black or gray with all my basses. However, I've previously used a wide pink leather strap with my Shell Pink Nordy; a wide green leather strap with my Neon Green Nordy; black and brown leather straps with my natural wood basses; and a 4" wide pre-Ernie Ball leather strap that I bought in, like, 1978 with my StingRay. I've just recently bought a red sparkle Peavey G-V and I'm thinking about pulling out my red 4" Italia strap for it, although it's currently wearing a Mono as well. Or maybe my yellow and black Eyeland with the red Peavey might look cool, too.

Not much, color-wise I wouldn't do. If I had a purple bass, I'd have a purple strap.

Usually I do. Sunburst gets a brown strap. Natural basses might get a tan colored strap. Some get black depending on what color they are and I try to match them to my different basses.

Since lots of people care so much about the color of their bass, the strap you wear with it is somewhat important, no? I mean - straps are pretty visible on stage.

I have a white Stingray with a white pickguard, and I'm considering a white strap to go along with it. Too much?
I like Souldier standard guitar straps for my Fenders. I like light, comfortable straps and Fenders don't have neck dive issues that require special straps. I have the Neil Young Hawks and Doves strap thst looks great with dark colors like gray and black. I also use that strap with my Ibenez Ergodyne. I have a John Stirrat custom Wilco strap that is a dark green and gold pattern that looks great with my Sea Foam Pearl PJ. I use a brown leather Gibson Slingshot strap on my Gibson T-bird. I also have an Epi Goth T-bird that I'm deciding what to to about horrendous neck dive. I've used the slingshot with it, and it helps, but I really need to move the pin. Since I only paid $120 for the bass, it is hard to justify buying another $80 strap just for it.
Bottom line, yes. I care that the strap looks good and works with with the bass I'm using it on.

I do, people care so much about Bass colour, it would seem ridiculous to then just pair it with anything.

I like my tweed!
