Does Anyone on the Planet Play a Maple Fingerboard Jazz?

A Jazz with a maple neck is a match made in heaven, IMO. I much prefer maple on a Jazz for the crisp attack, bite, and snappiness. Oddly enough, however, I prefer rosewood to maple on a Precision.

Actually, the main reasons I prefer rosewood-fingerboard instruments are not aesthetic -- particularly that a capped fingerboard neck is more stable, especially with thinner and narrower necks (remember the rash of neck twisting with the early GLs as an extreme example). In that I usually play high-tension strings, this is especially significant. I also prefer the darker tone of rosewood fingerboard necks, among other reasons.

I was just surprised by the virtual unanimity on rosewood by the big name players; they seem to agree on so few other things.

I'm not sure what you mean by "capped fingerboard". The maple boards are put on the same way as the rosewood ones...

All of my Jazz or Precision-type Basses are and will be (Birdseye) Maple-'boarded basses in the future - my Mike Lull Modern 4 & 5s, any further Lulls or American Deluxe Fenders.

As for the other basses I play, the Rosewood fretboards on my Spectors are partially tradition and partially "Well, they've worked for 30 years, right?" But any "custom" bass I would have done would be a Maple fretboard.
