Does anyone own a famous Bass?

My Yamaha ATT-LTD II was donated by Billy Sheehan for a charity fundraiser. It came with a COA as well. I didn't buy it from the fundraiser personally, but I thought it was cool. I don't know if it came from Billy's personal collection (kinda doubt it) or if it simply came from Yamaha or another vendor and was just signed by Billy. The COA doesn't specify exactly where it came from, it just says it was donated by him. IICR, I sent him an email asking if he remembered anything about it, but I didn't get a response. The signature is starting to wear too...I didn't do anything to preserve it (nor did I really want to) and I play it. The next time he does a clinic and I feel like lugging it with me, I'll have him sign the back of the headstock or something.

Not famous, but I have the 1993 NAMM show Ric 4004...

I also have the SWR Interstellar Overdrive prototype unit used by Adam Clayton to record and tour PopMart. Still marked with his settings. Marcus Miller also played this preamp.

Carlos Cavaso of Quiet Riot played thru my Marshall combo amp, Rudy Sarzo played thru my Ampeg SVT rig and I had Bo Diddley autograph an electric piano I played in his backup band at the PigPen in Clinton IA years ago. I also played in Corey Feldman's backup band when they forgot to show up at a show at the PigPen....

Wish I owned some famous person's gear, but unfortunately I dont...

I was contacted and asked if I'd like to purchase one of a select few instruments that were being released from his personal collection. I consigned two very nice basses out to bring it in - worth it. Beautiful playing and sounding Bull.

I almost bought a bass that was featured in a Toxic Holocaust (modern thrash metal band) music video.
It was a beat up mid 70's P with an added J pickup. come to think of it...it sold for less than a grand...I shoulda got it!

Fun fact, in one of the Guitar Hero games, you can make Slash play bass. It's rather entertaining to see.

Yeah there were 2 stacks from the Bruce, Trower, Husband 2009 tour.I got one of the LH1000 heads. It's got gaffer tape on the top saying S1, which is the wireless he uses for his Warwick,so i know its his amp nearest the drums for his fretless Warwick. LOL..

My Vigier Passion bass prototype was used by Alphonso Johnson.

I got it from Vigier after asking for a used one not wanting to wait for paint to dry.

Johnson likes the Arpege 5 better, which works for me
This is the only 5string that i need.

i was given a foot stool that folded into a travel case, that belonged to a famous country/western guitarist. i was also given a teamster jacket he used to wear all the time, and two of his suits he wore for performances. im an idiot, and didnt pay enough attention while moving to a new house once, and left all of this stuff behind on accident. i wasnt able to get any of it back.

i rented all of my bands gear to the scorpions in 2001 as well. they ended up renting another guitar amp to use, but kept ours on stage, and turned on the whole time. they used my bass amp and our drums tho!

I used to have a clunky old Vantage bass that I got from a friend who said it used to belong to Gary Larson who wrote The Farside. I tried to look him up online and ask him but he seems to be kinda private. I guess he plays guitar in a jazz band but he didn't have much of an online presence at the time and I didn't want to bother him but figured it was true since my buddy wasn't trying to charge me a ton of money for it or anything. It was the bass I first learned on. I ended up giving it back to my buddy when I got my first new bass.

Years ago, Billy Sheehan gave me a quick lesson at a record store appearance, on my bass.

It was cool because the radio station that promoted the in-store was a local DANCE station, so about 20 people showed up. I got to hang and sit and talk with Billy for almost an hour. He showed me how to play Addicted To That Rush on MY bass, then signed it.

So I don't own a famous bass, but my bass got its 15 minutes of fame.
