I do. I guess I liked it better. But I don't post anymore because I am in a state of bass-malaise. I am noy buying amps or basses. I don't know enough about much to help anybody and I am not seeking any help. So I am just not here much.

It could be that I'm just getting more comfortable with it, but I feel that the "hot" page is more useful than it was when the update first rolled out. It still doesn't feel as engaging as the old "trending" but that could purely be an engagement thing.
I will say that this forum is far superior to any other online bass communities/ social media and continues to be one of my favorite places on the internet.

Sounds like you're talking about VW Vortex. (if I'm allowed to say that here). That's exactly how they were, a very active forum, probably the top one for VW-related stuff, but today... crickets.
With TB, certain things seem easier, and some things not so much. I can generally find what I'm looking for, but it just doesn't seem to 'flow' as well as it did, though I have been getting more and more used to it. As far as the rest of social media, I hate FB/Meta and most of the others. C/L used to be kinda OK, but with Marketplace no one uses it anymore either.
That's not the one, but I actually was on that site starting about 20+ years ago, when I bought a 2002 limited turbo Beetle in Snap Orange.
It was a super helpful, great site; I even met up with a few people and bought parts from people states away. Good times.
But, that site did the same thing: poof, a big change, and everyone left. I checked it out a few years back, and you're right...crickets.
I just logged in to say hi and even the crickets were gone.
The differences between Hot and the old Trending are (in my opinion) what hurts the new site layout the most. We used to have 10-15 topics we would talk to death for 24 hours and then move to the next batch. Now it’s cluttered with things from two years ago. How is that a “Hot Topic”. It should just be a database query in a script somewhere. That would bring back thing feel of the old site. It’s not the visual layout (which is better), it’s the community interaction.
I remember the giant cypress trees and the alligators bellowing in the distance. The smell of the local paper mill and the fog hanging over the water early in the morning. I miss those days, and the people I shared them with.
I remember the old days with legendary troll nickthebassist, when Ken Smith and Jeff Berlin got banned (sorry, but being brilliant legends doesn't give you carte blanche to be jackasses), and all that drama. I can't say I miss it. I've gotten older and (hopefully) less dumber and have no patience for that.
As for the vibe, I don't see much difference. Like any community, you have the new neighbors, the neighbors who've been around, and those in between. You have the helping hands and the snarky jackasses, just like always.
It's like the grocery store. We grumble for a week or two when they rearrange the aisles, but then we stop thinking about that and simply go buy groceries.
Oh, we're talking about the software update? I prefer new. Being able to search classifieds for stuff a reasonable distance from me has allowed me to better engage in local sales/trades. I can more easily see what people near me might have on offer.
There was a lengthy period of time when I wasn't on here at all, but those were the years I was gigging and touring more. More PlayBass than TalkBass.

Great thread topic. I haven’t changed, same daily habits of checking the threads several times daily. I might post less, but that’s nothing to do with the new format. Glad TB is still here, and it’s still the best bass forum on the internet.
i still have some "old talkbass" click habits i'm trying to undo.

I find I have to click once or twice more and maybe scroll too, to find anything. It adds up 
Seriously, the opening page is much less useful than the old one. I don't find any aspect of the revamped pages an improvement. I know it had to be done for security and other technical reasons, but it made this place less appealing. Quite a few folks who were interesting and knowledgable posters have disappeared, but I think a lot of that happened before the update.

Being a member here since early 2001, I remember the old TB very well and I also miss when it was smaller and somewhat more personal..... kind of like the neighborhood hardware store versus Home Depot.
But, times are a changing and as much as I miss the one wire, carbureted simplicity of my 79 Z/28 that had a round key for the door and a square key for the ignition, I've come to terms with the new pushbutton cars where I only need the key in my pocket to open the door and start the car...... and I'm actually liking it.

But ... I miss young members. It seems the folks here are all more or less old, me included. If this is true and not just imagination, then it is not the software change that will kill TB, it is demographics.

I've begrudgingly accepted things the way they are now. I spend a bit less time here and the time I am here is less efficient than in the past on the older version of TB.
