Does anyone remember the old TalkBass?

Yes, I remember the "old" TB. It was better. Loaded faster, seemed more active. Not sure if it really was more active, but it seemed that way and perception matters for that. But for regular posting it's not THAT big a deal.

Classifieds are a different story. I have bought exactly nothing on the classifieds since the change. The new layout looks a lot flashier, but are is fact much more of a pain to browse—just way worse. I'll now look on Reverb or just buy new most of the time. Very poor UI choices there.

I liked the old classifieds. The new version is difficult for me to navigate so I rarely look at them. I bought and sold a lot of stuff here, but those days are gone.
CL is my go to now. Shipping costs have also contributed to my buy/sell habits.

It's been a while since the TB overhaul. There were a lot of complaints and people who said they were leaving. It seems certain folks (myself included) post less than they used to. But now that I think about it, I still remember the opening page, but that's about it. I've gotten used to the new TB and find it very easy to navigate.

Curious if any fellow TBers are still salty about the transition. Or have most settled in?
I don't spend as much time here as I used to. I'm not going to moan about it but I liked the old version. Progress isn't always for the better.

Well, I complained about the "upgrade"; pointed out that while improvements in security are always to be desired, there is absolutely no reason that the entire user interface has to change at the same time; was subjected to a heaping helping of personal abuse, finally told by the powers that be to shut up or leave.

So be very very careful in critiquing the received wisdom of the software weenies that different is always better and newer is always better.
That's too bad! I work in tech and roll out major projects regularly. IMO the recent re-design rollout was poorly communicated and had an underlying motivation (technical debt) that is understandable but not at all sexy/compelling to users. I've adjusted on desktop, but find it far less usable on mobile than previous (UI fails like the up/down buttons not in standard place on side of screen now getting covered up by banner ads when not logged in), saveable search options less comprehensive than earlier version, and I don't know if it's a coincidence or related to the state of the world, but movement on Classifieds seemed to hit a wall immediately and hasn't picked back up.

All in all, I've gotten used to the changes, but the look of the old TB came across as warmer and more inviting to me.

Also, and I know this is a minor quibble, but I miss some of the former emojis/smilies. For example: The old "EEK!" emoji looked something like this (sorry I couldn't find a smaller image):
EEK.jpg

The new one looks like this::eek:

The old "Oops" emoji had a blushing face that actually looked embarrassed. The new one looks like this::oops:

I miss the old "Er... What?" emoji, too. On the plus side, there are a lot more emojis to choose from.

Being a member here since early 2001, I remember the old TB very well and I also miss when it was smaller and somewhat more personal..... kind of like the neighborhood hardware store versus Home Depot.

But, times are a changing and as much as I miss the one wire, carbureted simplicity of my 79 Z/28 that had a round key for the door and a square key for the ignition, I've come to terms with the new pushbutton cars where I only need the key in my pocket to open the door and start the car...... and I'm actually liking it.

Sometimes change is good.
So...are you basically saying you miss the "brute force and ignorance" of the old TB but you're also enjoying the updated amenities of the new TB?;):)

Salty? No. Life's too short to waste time fretting over stuff I can't control. But, I don't like the new version better. So, I spend signficantly less time on the site and posting than I used to. At some point, my diminished presence may cause me to reconsider maintaining a Supporting Member, especially in this economy.
Exactly!!! The benefit though, for me, is that I now spend far less time on TB, and do other things instead. Sometimes I go for a week without checking-in.

I’ve wanted to mention - for sale items used to show up in New Posts, linked to the Classifieds. When that ended, so did a lot of browsing on my part. I’m surprised sellers haven’t raised the change as an opportunity downgrade.
In any case, my wallet thanks you :).

I've hardly sold anything on talkbass that isn't local.
Reverb has been my outlet there.
Often listed as no trades, But it doesn't stop people offering me trades for something I don't want!

I like to think that is simple (simpleton) human nature. Not reading and ignorantly storming in with their own agenda. We all do it accidentally from time to time.

Or it could be people who read but still continue to press their own agenda. Those people are collectively known in most every language as A$$h0les. They are everywhere, unfortunately. I don't feel that Talk Bass has a higher quota of those p1cks. It must feel that way when you are selling something, though.
