i voted yes, because everything that begins must have an end. when you die, that's your GAS all gone.

but while you're alive.... no. it doesn't stop. i believe all these people that say they're happy with the gear they have truly ARE happy with it. i'm happy with my two main basses. but at some point in the future, something will come along... and i'll justify it's sudden and inexplicable appearance in my living room with something like: "well, with all the money i saved NOT buying gear for all that time... i figure it was time for a little treat."

happy GAS!

Hell yeah!

I don't even work, so the fact that I've saved up the amount I have so far is impressive (just from random outgoings/selling stuff/etc)... and then throw in the justification of "Well, I'm selling this current one because it's just not right anymore..." and whattya have but GAS cured... for now!

Not realy, my new bass eliminated alot of stuff on my gas list though.. but a 70's style precision bass, a 70's jazz bass and a fretless 6er always gonna be on my gas list until i actually aquire them.

Im looking forward to see what the amp and the pedals in the mail will do for the rest of my gas list :p

In my case, I feel I have reached a plateau that I do not want to buy new equipment. I still have the desire to try new stuff, but when all (or most) new things fall short when compared head-to-head with the stuff I already own, then I have come to the realization that maybe not many things around can go further than just grabbing my attention and sparking my interest. The next two steps (desire to acquire and acquisition) never materialize in the present time for me

I am cured of GAS, folks. One Fender for the past 13 years. Another for the past 4, and my main player for the past three. Love them. Tried some Laklands and Sadowsky's a couple of weeks back. Nice basses. I really liked the 44-02. Nice. But...don't need, don't want.

as long as they keep building basses, cabs, amps, or whatever, we'll want it, and those of us who have a job will be able to get it, even if we already have one just like it. i do this from time to time, and my wife has no clue why i need it soooo bad. she's actually monitored my time on ebay.

I don't think it stops either, but just as an alcoholic can live the rest of his life without taking another drink, so we can have GAS all our lives and never make another gratuitous bass purchase.

G.A.S. never goes away. Just as soon as you settle into
a state of contentment after your last gear purchase it
won't be long before you run into something new to stir
up a tempest in the tea pot.
I'm a devoted bass player with bass as my first love of
choice as an instrument. I'm doubled cursed for G.A.S. as
I also play a hell of a lot of guitar as well on the side.
Thankfully my more than patient wife has supported my
music making over the years. I have to take a more pragmatic
view when considering buying something and ask myself if
I really do need that new bass, or amp, etc.I'm also recycling
by selling some things I never play anymore and using that
money to fund my next g.a.s. attack. G.A.S. never goes
away.;)

I'm near the end of my GAS. In the last 5 years I've only purchased 1 item for my rig, a Boss ME-50B bass effects board.

I have my ultimate bass, a Smith BSR4EG fretless, and a nicely powered main rig, adequate secondary rig, and a practice amp. I have 2 beater basses I can tool around on without caring about the finish.

The only things I'm really looking to get anytime soon is a cheap fretless I can bang up without feeling too bad (the Smith is a protected item) so I can practice fretless without constantly being concerned about harming the bass, and I want to replace my 700W head with something more in the 1KW+ range so it will be a little better matched to my cabs. (700Wrms underpowers them a little bit)
