Does Not Compute: $139 SX Mahogany 6 String with Set Neck

For me at minimum it is a bass to expand my floating thumb practice which I am just now starting to adopt. My only concern about it will be neck dive. String spacing is going to be tight for me to use it with slapping, but that is what the woodshed is for.

Note: never do a workout the same night as heavy woodshedding. It did not work out well for me last night.

That's cool. I didn't want to buy one I just wanted to see what the big deal was!

See below:

Exactly that, in trans-red, and the big S on top wasn't gold, but fake MOP or silver.

Yup! It's new ground for them. I quite like their original designs - especially the Defiant line - but I'd rather take that $600 and buy a used one from a better company.

I am curious to see if this $140 6 string is a good bargain for those who purchased them. $600 is a fine price to pay if you know you like 6 strings but $140 might help people figure out if they can/want to get there!

True. I don't mind paying $600 for a quality used bass from a known company where the resale value isn't going to change or decrease once I've driven it off the parking lot. I pay $600 for a Brice Defiant and play it once, the best I'm getting for it used is $200 including shipping!

Almost like buying a new Peavey!

Exactly why I went for this. As I said in a previous post, this is just to get my feet wet. I've been playing 5's for 20 years and don't expect any problems adapting to a 6, but for the price you just can't beat it. If I like it I'll jump in the 6 string pool all the way and get something better later.

BTW this is the first time I have ever ordered a bass sight unseen without playing it first. Wish me luck.

Completely understood and good luck! I've never had a problem with any bass that I've purchased from Rondo - they were both playable right out of the box and nice basses, regardless of the price. I have an SX ash body Jazz right now and it plays and sounds very nice.

For $158 shipped to NC, there's no risk involved. Thanks to the OP for the heads-up.
This could be the worst bass of all time, and there'd be enough reusable parts for projects and tinkering. I have a feeling that I'll like it fine enough - a cheap venture into something different.

Is that really a set-in neck? From the pictures it looks like neck-thru. Anybody know?
