In this video of Mozart's Adagio and Fugue (great piece!) has the bassist moving all over the place. Maybe it's a standing thing. (I know I move around a bit when standing. Some patrons have told me it was the most entertaining part. Ha ha.)
Anyway, I'm not sure who the bassist is but he certainly uses the "thumb provides the pressure on the bow" German technique. He leans the bass quite forward as well. Oh yeah, the playing is great!

Its a long time since Ive seen someone that opposed to string crossing or playing on the string... ;-)
