Started in rock in the 80s, now I'm in smooth jazz, which my wife "lovingly" calls "elevator music," so I guess I've gone through all the Freudian stages lol

If you ever come across a recording entitled "An Index Of Metals", by Brian Eno and Robert Fripp(you'll find it in sections on YT), I'd say that comes closest. I just love it.

A bridge to what? Metal incorporates so many subgenres that you can't necessarily assign "anger" as an aspect of a typical metalhead, because there's no such thing. A Poison fan is not a Slayer fan, or even a Meshuggah or Boris fan either. I couldn't tell you a thing about technical death metal, but could listen to SunnO)) all day. Then St. Vincent after that.

Agreed. Where do you want to go when you cross the bridge? Guess it depends on the person. I recall as an teenager wanting to generally understand why I was angry, and metal satiated at least my primal resolve to lay down the question. I'm now 44, and metal is more about framing unacceptable (or unprofitable) urges within the confines of societal propriety. I'm a professional man, but not really. Metal is a reminder my necktie is a ruse to get me through until my kids leave home. I'm really not whatever this is right now.

So, here's the problem with this;
I literally listen to Rock, Country, Rap, Top-40, Pop, Heavy Metal and Blues. So what personality do I have?

No joke, my iPad has everything from Katy Perry and Taylor Swift to The Cranberries to Metallica to Joe Bonamassa to Cinderella to Chris Stapleton to Eminem to Joe Satriani to Leo Moracchioli to The Omnific and on and on and on. And it's not uncommon for me to just put the whole mess on shuffle.

These sorts of studies tend to be based on really weak research methods that, the more you peel back the layers, the weaker the foundation tends to be.

That said, I think the "conclusions" are broad enough to indicate the answer is "no".

Well, I fit the description of jazzers, but it happens to be flattering, and I don't believe in personality types.

I also like Nordic fiddle music.

Also, I started in jazz because I was asked to join the middle school jazz band. My main thing during that time was playing classical music on the cello.

Based on a claimed sample of 36,000 people the researchers found a correlation between music taste and personality or character type.

It's a broad brush and I'm a bit skeptical, but see if it fits you
