I'm the type of personality who thinks Myers–Briggs Type Indicator questionnaires are bollocks, AKA bull$h!t, and has a range of music preferences that is very broad.

Anyone who doesn't like at least "most" of what I do, they're just sociopaths.
Yes, this is broad brush. It reminds me of horoscope readings. The descriptions are peppered with items that will flatter some and annoy others. But they are sufficiently distributed so that typically there will be at least a couple that will please the target audience. This is not behavioral science. Don't be fooled by the "medically reviewed" at the top of that article. It must be a low bar.Was just reading this interesting pop psychology article and thought TB members might find it interesting Music Preferences and Your Personality
Based on a claimed sample of 36,000 people the researchers found a correlation between music taste and personality or character type.
It's a broad brush and I'm a bit skeptical, but see if it fits you

If I go by the descriptions, I am Indie. In real life I prefer jazz. I have my entire life.

I'm country / Jazz, and not conservative.
It's truly amazing what most people will do for a Klondike.
. I'd (probably) go after it like Pavlov's dog and Skinner's pigeon, in theory writing silly things capable of endangering the public, humans, dogs, and birds alike. People, please don't take the article as more than an entertaining read. Please. It is funny. It can, however, damage nice human beings. Instead, laugh at the stereotypes therein and eat yummy food…in moderation, etc.
Only track on my Zune. What about Shatner singing, 'Lucy In The Sky, With Diamonds'?

Yes, this "egghead psych department type" is laughing this off.Well, honestly nothing in the original article referenced indicates this is a proper study. The egghead Psych Department types I have known would laugh this off. I suspect you are correct in questioning the motive of this "study". It looks like the work of a consulting firm and pigeon holing is exactly what they are going for. The OP used the term "Pop-Psychology" to describe the source. I think that is very telling.
