If you went to a restaurant and found a big greasy hair in your meal, would you expect to pay for it? Furthermore, wouldn't you expect a new meal and the check comped?
If I found a hair in my soup or on my steak I would just have them bring me new soup or a new steak. I wouldn't expect a whole new meal and I wouldn't expect to eat for free. It takes a lot more than just a hair in my food to make me walk out of the restaurant in disgust.
Similarly, if I ordered an item from a store and it was unreasonably delayed, when the store said they had it in stock and would be shipping it immediately, I would expect them to waive the shipping cost. That's perfectly reasonable.
I'm amazed at the sense of entitlement that some have to free stuff (not pointing anyone out in particular - just saying I see a lot of it) by expecting companies to give away their store to satisfy the customer when not everything goes exactly the way they want.
