Don't understand this 'suggestion' from the Ampeg website:

Does this make any sense given the 15e and 410he are full range cabs. The literature implying the 15 handles low end and the 410 top end. I thought that was a bi-amping thing. The SVT CL being the suggested amp. ???
I actually use the ampeg 15 and 410he setup they are talking about.

And I think it's awesome. I prefer it over the 810e which I used for over a decade.

They complement each other very well. And I disagree with the comment that they are both full range cabs. The 410he is a sealed 410 with a horn and is very punchy with a lot of bite and the 15 compliments the 410he because it's ported and doesn't have a horn so it's a rounder less aggressive sound. They may be "full range" in the sense that they don't use aggressive crossovers. But they are not full range IMO because they are limited by their designs for example being ported and not being ported, having a horn and not having a horn.

Other advantages to this setup is how portable and flexible it is. I typically put the 410he in the trunk of my 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer and the 15 in the front passenger seat with my 4 space rack, pedalboard and basses laid down across the back seat. Don't need a truck or band trailer to move it like I did with my 810e. If I'm just messing around at home I leave the 15 in the garage and just bring the 410 in the house. I also previously owned two 410he cabs and the 15e is significantly lighter and rounder sounding than the 410. I play acoustic rock, hard rock and some stuff that some may consider borderline metal. We like to do some acoustic stuff here and there and I'll just use one cab for that because the acoustic guitars just run direct with no amps. But for full on electric shows I like having both cabs.

Maybe folks got part of what I was saying as bashing Ampeg. Well heck no. I already own an SVT CL, an SVT 15EN, and was just contemplating an 410he (pending if it's an SVT or B series). I just didn't like the marketing lingo. I thought it to be a downright lie. The 410 does lows better than the 15 for starters. UNLESS...I'm behind the times or missing something.

The 410hlf does lows better. The 410he does not.

Pretty sure that's every company lol
Of course every company wants and needs to make a profit but Ampeg lie with their stats, outsource all their manufacturing labour, make statements like that only a 15 inch speaker can get a certain sound, try to weasel their way out of all the design faults the pf500 and SVT 7 pro had by blaming it on user error or utilising that really handy non transferable warranty then charging people for a replacement board when they all should have been recalled. Genius business model for making profit, but quite unethical imo.
And yes again, every company wants to make a profit but not every company wants to use ever dirty trick in the book to get there

Cabs that are designed to work together in the same frequency range will have the driver acoustic centers lined up on the same vertical axis. If you want to delve into what that means the information is out there, but suffice it to say if the fronts of the driver frames are on the same vertical axis they're not time aligned. Suffice it to say also that AFAIK not one manufacturers cabs that supposedly are made to work together are time aligned. And that's just one factor out of at least three that need to be addressed but are not. Designed to work together? No. They're lying to you. Why? Because they think that you don't know any better and will believe anything they tell you. When you look at the responses that this question generates every time it's brought up it's obvious that where that's concerned they're right.

Time-Alignment

Time align usually isn't critical when there's a crossover between the speakers, because then they don't interact with each other that much. When there's no crossover it can make a big difference.

So, business as usual for TB?

More lies from Ampeg lol. Ampeg seem to just care about one thing and that's making money.

When you make a company that big, marketing matters a lot, and lots of bassists aren't engineers or scientists. You're also acting like caring about money is a bad thing - in making money Ampeg is able to keep people hopefully gainfully employed. To add to things, they make a good product, I've got a few and have had no problems.

The "ideal" driver would provide full range balanced response with wide dispersion and be incredibly efficient all at the same time. Many would flock to this while many would still prefer their 8x10's. Mixing and matching provides a unique outcome, whether that outcome tickles your taste buds is up to the end user. Happy coincidence and serendipity are wonderful things. The end result being less than the sum of its parts, not so much. Mix away and decide for yourselves.
I can say that the new driver from Alex Claber, who claims high output, wide response and good efficiency has proven, in my personal experience, to be very good (to the point of buying another). Others would not agree, but I have had a number of "old school players" enjoy playing through them and all agree my sound when playing in these styles is not "hi-fi"
