I think I'm gonna have to come down on this side of the issue.
Life will crush her dreams and spirit soon enough. I see no need to try to rob her of anything now.

With all of the crap going on in the world today, a video of a girl who likes music trying to sing doesn't pass muster for humor with me. I've seen far worse, both vocally and attitude-wise.
This sort of thing reminds me of many people I've seen who laugh at musical beginners... who usually didn't have the determination to do much if anything musicially themselves.
Now granted, I didn't fill in a lot of the blanks pertaining to her motives, social standing, goals, etc. like so many seem to need to do on a regular basis. That sort of projection I do find sadly amusing. Because people like that rarely even have a clue that that's what they're doing.

Personally I'll let my daughter know when she's old enough what may happen and if she chooses to go ahead, oh well, interweb critics come a knockin. There is a "private" posting if she wanted to only show her friends. Sorry, put your big girl pants on and deal with it missy if you step in it.

When I was growing up in Quebec (80-90's), there was this child singer that was constantly shoved down our throats. Her voice was quite nasal and her songs were ... I don't know how to translate the french word "quétaine". "Corny" maybe, trite, cheap, cheesy? I was a teenaged metal head back then, so I was sorta not into her at all. I've gotten older since and broadened my musical tastes a bit, but I still think her early stuff was pretty lame. (btw: not saying all metal heads are closed minded, just saying I was back then cause I was really into the whole "metal for life" thing)
Anyway, the running gag was that the only reason we kept hearing of this untalented chick was because her manager was very well connected and kept getting his buddies to put her on air. And she was everywhere. Some people liked her, some gave her credit for keeping on keeping on, but she was always a favourite target for comedy shows.
Her name was Celine Dion.

I actually watched the vid now. On it's own the vid is kinda cute. Some little girl doing something she likes. Nothing to laugh about or make fun of. Just looks like someone who posted a simple vid on youtube. Nothing special.
Where's the "someone needs to discover me" part? That would be a bit more funny, but without it, I can't bring myself to think any disparaging thoughts here at all.

Well, I live with my bandmates and they have teenaged kids. I've experienced worse eye rolling moments. Kids are like that. If it was an adult it would be worth serious heckling.
Real-time posting here...I haven't read anything in the thread past the OP. I'm about to watch this video because I perform "I'll Be" solo/acoustic (based on Edwin's recording in "Messenger") and I'm curious if either:
A) this girl is genuinely bad or,
B) I'm genuinely bad or,
C) no one likes the song and just hates anyone who performs it.

...and 30 seconds later...I'm done.
There should be a 7-day moratorium on posting webcam videos for this reason. It would at least give the poster the opportunity to reconsider whether they want the world to view and possibly criticize and/or ridicule. There should also be an age limit so that hormonally-challenged teenagers don't post something they'll regret later.

Fixed your post...exact spelling emphasized. I tried to search for the word "discover" and couldn't find it.
my youtube vids got shot down a hundred or so times.(Christopher's Project -Happy Feelings/ Back In My Life covers). Now, 2 years later, the streets flow with the tears of the non-believers.
If you check out some of her other videos, it's pretty obvious that she's improved over the years.
