Double Ps?

I thought that the double Ps I've played worked really well. I'm really not sure why its not a more common configuration. I'd love to have one, myself. That double P TL-5 is giving me serious GAS, in fact.

Most of them seem to have been made back in the 80s, for whatever reason.

I will admit, they don't look the greatest. But if they sound good, what's the issue? I might have to find a way to try one.

I really like double reverse P setups... it sounds like most of the people who do not like them dislike the way they look, which is subjective, but I think they look sort of neat, and sound fantastic!

The guy with the Moody Blues has a p-bass wirh 3 p-pickups in a row ...

i remember seeing that in a video thought it was great. white bass with white covers on the pups IIRC.

I've got an Ibanez that was made in the mid 80's that has double P's. I got it off Ebay for less than $150 a year ago. I thought it would be fun to "build" a bass with, but it sounded so good, all I did to it was put on new strings and did a set up. It looks like death eating crackers, but I love the way it sounds.

as someone has already posted, bc riches are pretty common with the double p config...also, if you were to look under the hood of the proprietary soapbar pickups that come on mtd basses, you would find that mtd x35 basses are also of dual p configuration

The Fender Blacktop Jazz bass was basically a P-Bass with 2 pickups. I haven't tried one yet, but I've read some good reviews on it.

That Sir, is IMO one of the best "mass produced" basses ever. BTW although a slightly different flavor, two EMG P6's sound amazing in that bass!!

Sorry for the derail. But you just don't see TL-6's everyday.

I got to try one out last week. That thing is an effin' cannon! To quote the guy working at the shop, "Yeah, it's got balls!"

If I ever get to the point of playing live on-stage, I may have to nab one.

Don't know what it really sounds like, but it's an ESP signature model made for the bassist from Loudness sometime in the 80s or 90s. There two volume controls for that double P pickup - one for the EA strings and one for the DG.

Alien Audio uses a Double P in some configurations I believe.
I've heard GOOD things about them too.

I have one on order. Should know in about two months or so.
