Down the rabbit hole again - Project 4350

Yep, @ChickWithaRic take care of yourself and your business first. Whenever you’re ready to post again, I’ll definitely read them.

PS, I’ve been in a similar situation. HVAC service tech for 6 years and when it was cold or, especially, hot out sometimes it was weeks without a day off. I really appreciate what I do now but I’ll admit it actually took a few years to be able to actually detense (yes, that’s a new word) on the weekends and not constantly expect the phone to got off.

Take the work, invest in it, keep your clients happy, your reputation solid, and your income flush.

It won’t last forever, and when the lull comes, the build will still be there, waiting.

And this thread will happily bubble along, with the peanut gallery continuing the flood of debating minutiae, lobbing non sequiturs, and cracking unbroken streams of clever wit.

There's at least three accidental band names in there

Totally gonna use that.
Incidentally, I came up with a whole new acronym today.

WISH.

Working In Somebody's House.

I think I should offer training courses in this, because some people desperately need that training. I only wish I were joking. Some days I feel like I'm running a pirate ship. A well meaning pirate ship, but a pirate ship all the same.

I grew up in the hood and worked in the trades all my life. Been at a school for maybe 17-18 yrs now. It's a day on the beach compared to what I used to do (don't tell them that). They hired a younger guy as a night cleaner about 5 yrs ago and he had a similar background as me, as far as mostly working in the trades and being from the hood, etc. About 3 yrs ago, they decided to finally give me a helper and they picked him because he was the only one who had anything that resembled construction work on his resume. Actually, it was only demo work, but, ya know, the people in charge of the department have never done the work they're in charge of and have no idea who to put where,....so, yeah. That works good.
Anyway, long story, longer,.....it's a school.......and he'd only worked nights for a while, when no one was there. Having him tag along with me all day every day, while there were people around,......it was kinda like when you bring home a stray dog that's never been in a house before? Kinda like that. I mean, really good kid, really happy, friendly, always laughing, asks how high when you say jump, all that.....but had to be reminded not to stare at the female teachers like we were at the club, or say say things out loud, swear like we were on a construction site, etc, etc. Hints and suggestions didn't work. I had to actually get nasty a few times and turn the smile upside down. But, he acclimated eventually and got better.
So, I feel ya on that one.
Hope you get it worked out with your mutts.

So, my wife and her parents were literally just watching that. I'm just not a Beatles fan, it's not my jam. I was working on video editing and listening to it in the background, sounded bizarre. It literally sounded like an hour and a half of the same exact conversations I used to have with my band mates when we were at our rehearsal studio. :cautious:

So I went to a funeral last... (counts on fingers) Tuesday, which was a good thing to get out of the way, and various people with poor eyesight said "Oh you look nice when you dress up". Oh sweet baby Jesus I hate families. There's just no need. On the other hand I think it's really cool when a few hundred people rock up just to make sure you're actually dead. That was kind of a joke. These things are never much fun, so you just seek out your weirdest relative and get drunk. It's a good coping mechanism, and I am equally cursed and blessed with many weird relatives. It was like a box of chocolates, really. Really weird chocolates.

Anyway I only mention this because whilst I was there, some inconsiderate brass whole managed to give me a serious dose of a cold or flu that kinda sidelined me for a few days. I don't like days off. They are expensive things..

On the upside, I did kind of drive the mutha truck through town the other day on my way to Walgreen's and I did me a genuine pawn shop find. 1980 Ibanez Roadster RS900. I haggled it down to 450. I was ill, I could have been meaner but 450 is still cheap for one of these in good shape. I think I did ok there. Maybe better than ok.

Anyway that's all I have to report, I've cleaned it up and done a fret job on it today (level, crown, polish) and dropped on a set of RotoBass 35 gauge nickels and hey waddya know it's just like Ibanez made a Stingray, but it's an Ibanez Stingray. Seriously it's awesome, but I'm obviously far too ill to truly appreciate it.

YET.

Oh yes my piano playing neighbor, your days of relative peace are close to an end. Oh sorry did I type that out loud?

I feel better now so I have to go back to work. I hope you are all ok, I have missed all of you. In a casual way. It's not like we're engaged or nothing.

(cough)

I thought that was quite a good thread derail. And with that, I'll hand it back to you.

Pics or it didn't happen. You know the rules. :roflmao:

Sorry for the loss.
It definitely happened.

On a side note, I'll say my picture posting capability has been temporarily limited by a 18g finish nail going right the way thru my smart phone holder and into the glass that cover my iPhone's rear camera lens. All my pictures look like 1980s soft focus Playboy mag right now. I can only offer my most sincere apologies.

I have had various suggestions from colleagues for repairing this issue, from "pull the glass off anyway why not " (I award you no points) to "pull off the broken glass and stick clear Gorilla tape over it (3 points for effort), and finally "Amazon has that glass for $5" (Winning entry).
