The only thing I remember about soft focus Playboy is that one centerfold had a Rickenbacker 4001 in it. Don't remember the girl or her backstory, just how the bass shined. Do all Rick's come with a staple?

I remember that centerfold! I had recently bought my 4001 (which I still have), and I admired the photographers' artistic taste. There's no question that the waist curves on the bodies of basses are intentionally designed to appeal to our natural attraction to the waist curves of women. They teach that in industrial design schools.

We hadn’t seen her for 30 years, and as she told the story I cringed. She is a very interesting and talented artist. I’m really glad she didn’t injure her hand.
