Down the rabbit hole again - Project 4350

In my book, it has been made clear right from the start that it will take some time... Keep having patience AND fun, everybody...

It's getting done. I never said it would be quick. I have a couple of planned days off this week, so I hope to get something done in that time. I also treated myself to a whole new set of electrical tools - digital soldering station, proper wire strippers, side cutters. Yeah, stuff got fancy around here.
I had a minor struggle just recently when my 5 year old Dell laptop went *click* and just died. Motherboard failure. I bought myself a new Dell and have spent far too much time migrating to it. 5 years is a good lifespan for a laptop that spends its time rattling around in a truck and breathing in the dust of a construction site.
I also dropped onto a very nice used early 1990s Ibanez GAX-70 guitar, a $30 (you read that right) pawnshop find. It needed love, but these really are nice guitars. Kind of a baby Artist series.
So, yeah, I will admit I spent FAR too many hours on that side project, including heavy duty sticker removal and machine polishing the finish on the body back to its original glory. I think Ibanez still occasionally reissues these.
I also further treated myself to a CV Squier 50's P bass, which is going to get the full upgrade suite. Another side project, but that will be a quick one. Thread is here if you want to have a look.
I think maybe Thursday or Friday we will have "fun with tablesaws and UF glue".
Finally, I know on rare occasions I can snap at people. It's very hard sometimes to gauge the intent of a comment online, and sometimes we get it wrong. I know I do. It's not my intention to be mean or contrary. Snap back at me, or inbox me and say hey what's your problem. Sometimes we all need that reminder, and I hope I'm not too far up myself to apologize when necessary. This is mostly a really cool and chilled community and I wouldn't ever want to upset the vibe.

I just installed a Seymour Duncan in the Squier CV 50s P, and it's a breeze with this thing. I love it!
I have reached a level of domestic Nirvana that has only been previously equalled by purchasing a dishwasher 5 years ago. This is transformative. Yihua are, apparently, a big name in this kind of thing but I reckon this is strictly for home gamers like me, but it does the job. Gets to temperature in seconds, and stays there. The LED illuminated magnifier is a bonus too, when you have eyes like mine. It has a tip cleaner AND a sponge! There's even a 4mm socket round the back for an ESD tether, which they supply. I love the super flexible silicone insulated power cord to the iron, too. And it wasn't even expensive.
I'm going to get another. One for each hand. Imma dual-wield this sucker.

Same model number almost as well, and Yihua have them both on the same web page. I imagine the orange one is a kind of hardened industrial version with similar electronics.
I have a couple old Wellers with the light blue handle from 30+ yrs ago. A friend borrowed them from his HS electronics class. They're great soldering irons.
The ones they sell at Depot now are cheap junk.
I can't find the one with the magnifying glass, but I found pretty much the same one you have but with just the helper arms. I have Magoo goggles, so don't need the glass. And it's $50.

I have an orange one very similar to that, or maybe exactly similar to that. I dunno, I got it from another TB'er, it's worked very well.
