Down the rabbit hole again - Project 4350

I always giggle when I drive by a new construction site in Seattle, there's a company here called "The Erection Company", they always hang a really big banner on their jobsites. :roflmao:
No, just don't even go there. I have a Latvian carpenter who has worked for me for two years now. I arrived on a job once and he is carrying a bunch of 2 by 4s on his shoulder. So I jump out of my truck and I am like "Morning Yani, what's up?"

He says "Look, I have wood!"

Yes, yes, I am sure that you do. I just had to walk away. Giggling.

Is that anything like:

"I'm perfect. I thought I made a mistake once, but I was wrong."
No, it's more like...

Lady goes into a bar. Barkeep asks what she will be having. She says, "I'd like a double entendre".

So he gave it to her.

Sometimes they are unintentional such as the real newspaper headline "March planned for May".

Or, the time I needed somebody to quickly fix a ply hoarding up on a job, and approached one of my very busy carpenters in a gang and said extremely loudly, "Keith, can I pull you off for a few minutes, please?"

Ground, swallow me up. Now.

Oh yeah and by the way I think my table saw was stolen today.

I got a text late last night from one of my minions on another job asking for a contractor's saw, so I replied saying ok I'll leave mine out front for you. Meaning in front of my porch.

So I gets home and, no saw, which is expected, but also a text I hadn't noticed saying "Where is the saw?".

So I replied, hopefully in your truck.

Reply - "No saw there 2day"

Me - Are you sure?

Reply - "Was it disguised as a cat?"

Me - No, that was almost certainly my actual real cat that you found. So, where is my saw?

Reply - "That's what I'm asking you?"

Now, I live in the middle of nowhere. And this guy, I trust him. For example, I paid him for a day he didn't work (I had forgotten) and he called me to say I'd paid him too much.

So yeah, I think passing raccoons or some jackass in a truck stole it.

Ho hum. They sell them in stores. I'll buy another. I never liked it anyway.

Edit to add: I also think people who steal contractors' tools should be treated very harshly. I've been quite lucky and had a few things go, here and there, annoying but no big deal. I've known people who have had everything taken, and without insurance that can sink you. Tool thieves are scum, even amongst thieves. Throw rocks at them.
