Dr. Bass cabinets

I am so happy that you guys are taking a look at Dr. Bass. I found Marc and the guys about a year and a half ago and I am have dumped all of my SWR stuff since then. I just talked to Marc and I am getting a 2x12 from him. So that will be a 2x10, 1x15, and a 2x12. I am thinking that 600 Watts with 2 10's and 2 12's should rock some faces off.

The wattage ratings are listed in the auctions. I emailed them regarding ohms and you can choose 4 or 8. As far as sensitivity- don't know - you need some testing equipment for that. They do clearly state that they use emininece drivers so you can get some idea of the performance of these cabs. I'm not terribly concerned about the website. I can understand that a small fairly new company is busy with other things. The website while slightly sparse, is not so bad anyway. Epifani's website was somewhat hoopty for while before he polished it up. I would like to hear more feedback from users but I guess thats what were're here for.

Well I guess "hoopty" is a little harsh. It was actually fine. About a year ago it didn't have much more content than the DR. bass site does now (although it did have sensitivity specs).

I emailed them through the ebay link about the 212 crossover which turns out to be just a high pass on the horn. That's actually OK with me. They sent back a pdf of the current products and said they hope to get the web site up to date soon.

The product line looked more interesting though. In addition to the 212 on ebay they have too slightly higher end 212's with compression horns and bigger 12's (power rating). They also have 2 3-way cabs listed, a 12-6-horn and a 10-8-horn that are both very light. I think those two use the Eminence neodynium drivers.

Of course, a $299 212 cab can't go too wrong. I was going to get an ACME B2 but I'm worried I won't have enough power for it. I could use the 212 with my Peavey Vintage 100watt guitar amp for awhile until I get a real bass amp.

I still have not gotten the 2x12 yet, but I am using my 2x10 with a 1x15 a lot and have had nothing but great results. I am due to get my 2x12 any day now. Marc also built two custom cabinets for my guitar player and they are great. My guitar player had a cabinet built for his Gibson Goldtone (the cab was built to Gibson's specs and even looks like a Gibson) and he had one built for his Mesa Duel Rectifier. I have not seen the one for the Mesa yet, but I know that it is built to the specs of my guitar player at a good price. I just encourage people to call Marc and chat with him.

Just got my 212 today. Haven't had much of a chance to play through it but sounds great so far. Very warm and punchy and responds really well to the Thunderfunk. The sound is pretty close to what I was hearing in the headphones which sort of surprised me. I don't think I'd heard my bass sound like that with other rigs.

It's built rock solid too. Contruction is very good and the coating they put on is much better than carpet. I think he might be catching up on the back orders.

...a 2x12 8-ohm birchline one.

i usually use a berg 2x10 (which i love). i wanted something cheap but good-souding to throw in my band's rehearsal space to leave there. the specs looked better than avatar, so i thought i'd give it a whirl.

used it on several gigs before taking it to the practice space. the horn was a little bright at first, so i just rolled it off a bit. seems to handle the really low stuff on the low b string better than the berg. overall, i really like it. i think it sounds great, and you can't beat the price. just have to withstand my bandmates making fun of the name! :)

mark serio seems really nice and he was very accessible - i called & emailed him a couple of times with great response.

i think i'll call him to see if he'll figure out how to make that rack-top air-head thing available on the 2x12...

if he does, i'd consider getting one & selling my berg... :eyebrow:
