You did not mention if you were the BL, so not sure if this is a mess caused by you making a decision that wasn't yours to make or you are the BL and after you discussed it with the other members you decide to replace the deadwood?

Actually, I think this is more like you're thinking of breaking up with your girlfriend but you haven't told her yet. You go and find a new girlfriend, again without breaking up with the old girlfriend first.

Old girlfriend wants to come over and talk, and somehow this is her bad??

Ok, thinking about it i think it was a little bit too hasty to replace the drummer on the same day without thinking it twice. Nothing I can do about it now, new drummer stays.
I did talk to the other band members, who didn´t know about any replacement so i said: "hey, i know this drummer, we can invite him to join".

Next thing, I should probably talk to the old drummer, because nobody else will do and the fault that he won´t play with us anymore is mine in a bigger percentage.

How would you guys approach it? I was thinking just texting him the news in a short and cold message, without beating around the bush too much.

Texting that info is fine for telling someone that they didn't nail the tryout, not finalizing a bandmember's ouster. Bare minimum a phone call, but face to face is best.

Soooo the only people who knew about the replacement drummer were you and the replacement drummer. Haha. Yes, firing the old drummer via text is perfect, report back with updates!

I would normally say phone call, but honestly this drummer has not really shown up. He doesn't necessarily deserve a phone call. His offenses include purposefully playing loudly to rudely cover up a band members solo, and declining to rehearse because he wasn't in the mood. A text would perfectly match his level of commitment.

I just texted him we found a replacement in the "meantime". I´m tired of dealing with this anyways.

Just tell him that he has been replaced and he's a good drummer and should have no problem finding a good fit somewhere.

If he gets argumentative just tell him the band doesn't want to deal with drama.

I stop reading whenever I see titles like "Drama With Drummer" or "Drama With Vocalist".

Asking why is like asking why a male dog pisses on trees and bushes. It's in their genes.

No. If you talk to him, especially about how he "feels," then he and his drama are the winners.

This is seriously one of those times where you just have to say it just didn't work out, no harm no foul, wish him luck in the future. Clean break.

I see something else here. I think the drummer is bummed with the bass player skills.
He didn't let the bass to play a solo (if the solo sucks, it sucks!) and he wants to express his feeling, which I guess, he wants the bass player out of the band.

If, when you talk about the choice you made, you refers to YOU as the band minus the drummer, then you don't have to feel guilty as the whole band decided to reharse with a new drummer for one time.
The situation may be more complex otherwise, notwithstanding the fact that all band regarded with the new drummer . .

I don’t think you want to provide the stage for the big scene he’s probably been rehearsing in his head for a week.
