Native geographically, yes. English has always been the official language of the US though.
Interesting fact: German was actually the runner up for being the official language of the US
English is the de facto language of the US, but there is no official one. Adopting an official language would presumably require some governmental institute for linguistic standards, like France has for the French language.
Immediately after the revolution it was considered to adopt German for US governmental communications to make a more complete break from England. I think they probably decided the effort wasn't worth the symbolism, especially since it was not assured that the populace would follow suit.
