Driving a hi-dollar car to a gig

On the majority of my gigs we all ride together in the BL's vehicle anyway. My car stays at his house.

It's funny how americans call a BMW an exotic, when in Europe it's pretty much the definition of banality. I'm not saying that it's wrong or that it isn't a very nice car, just a funny difference of point of view.

Same thing happens with beer.

Way back when I gigged in a 1967 Porsche.

A 911 is the best giggin' car out there. My bass fits in the front truck, and I have plenty of room in the flipped down rear seats for a smaller rig. Epic win!

But I do have to say, never drive a nice car to a gig. It just seems like it never works out well. Maybe its just a NY thing, but everyone thinks your stuck up and a jerk and someone will end up pissing on your car (thats happened before) before you leave, guaranteed. Even if you park down the road they find it somehow, lol!

Class warfare. I've run into it.

I'm a working class kid who stayed out of jail and off drugs, kept a day job, and wound up with a nice house and a couple nickels to rub together. And along the way I learned there would be folks who'd envy me and resent me because I wasn't f-ed up like them.

Stinks--but I've run into it. And I've learned my true friends are the ones who are glad I did OK.

I don't think anyone is calling BMWs exotic cars in a broad sense. It's reasonable in any country, IMO, to think of an M5 as an exotic.

While I agree the M5 is a sweet BMW, and that you've further sweetened yours, I still can't see M5 as an exotic. "Exotic: of a kind not used for ordinary purposes or not ordinarily encountered."
A BMW 2002Tii, that's a classic! As are the 3 CSL, the 507, even the 328i – all classics. M5 is an awesome performance Beemer. BMW doesn't approach "exotic", IMO, until you get to the M1.

Mercedes and Beemers are far too ubiquitous here to be considered exotic. Even in Canada I wouldn't consider them exotic. Luxury yes. Exotics are Lotus, Maserati, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bugatti, McLaren etc.

Alfa Romeos aren't common here, but still not exotic except at the upper echelon – 4C, 8C. Peugeot same deal. Not exotic unless maybe the RCZ. Mercedes' 500SL for modern times, the SLS AMG, is somewhat exotic.

Anyhoo, doesn't matter what I think. You've got a Schweet ride WJGreer, drive it like it's meant to be driven and take care where you park it when you drive to gigs. Now let's see those pics of the engine mods etc

We obviously don't play the same kinds of places. I've had to clean both vomit AND blood off of my car. (the vomit comes off easier, by the way, depending on what they ate)

Same here. I don't trip about my cars so people around me don't either.

None of my cars are super exotic. One is fairly rare. I've never bought or driven a car to pick up women. I buy them because they're fun to own and drive. I used to be surprised at how many don't enjoy driving their cars, making them more appliance than anything... even fairly nice cars.

I've gigged with the wife's car too...

All affordable, all paid for.

Why is your pickup so slow?

My 4x4 4 door pickup hits in 7.1 ( totally stock )

Im very easy on the throttle... Saving fuel,, being green,, etc..

edit: If i really romped on it, im talkin like pedal to the floor, i think it would do 0-60 mph in 12 seconds.... maybe less.. (fingers crossed)
