My wife's cat once p*ssed in my brand-new $1200 laptop. I caught on when I picked it up to figure out why it wouldn't turn on, and a cascade of cat whiz poured on me.

Straight into the trash, because even if it worked after it dried up, it would have reeked for all eternity. You'll probably be OK as long as you clean the pedals really thoroughly and none got inside. If it soaked into the wood you are better off replacing the board because the smell will never really come out. If it's painted or varnished you might be able to clean it.

Yes, any one of these pedals was a Bad Cat? The cat ain't castrated yet, otherwise he/she wouldn't mark his/her turf like that. Piss stain of cats can be a major chore to get rid of if ever. You should have left the electricity on, and lift the ground off so anyone who touches the chassis .... but then you'd be accused for killing his cat.

A cat I once shared had a litter. We had a pair of dogs, and momma cat gave birth on our bed. To keep kittens away from dogs we let momma cat use our bedroom as a nursery for a few weeks, and kept the door closed alot. That meant litter box in the corner of our bedroom. Hardwood floors and wood baseboard. Kittens learned to use the box somewhat. However, they miss alot, and are sometimes explosive. That stuff seeps into wood. Not good to clean cat piss with bleach, as it has a high amonia content. .. I almost died

It's possible that the cat gets stressed out by the loud noise (to him) of your band rehearsal, so that could be a whole 'nother issue to tackle.

Seeing as how a couple of restaurants in my area have been investigated and the feral cat population has dropped significantly in the 14 years I have lived in this area , I can see several solutions to your problem.

Hmm...this (among many other reasons) is why I never leave gear anywhere. No exceptions.

First off, does the drummer know about this? One, he should be apologizing and helping you clean up your pedals and going so far as to replace anything that's permanently "marked". Hopefully you'll be okay just wiping down the pedals with cleaner and replacing the Velcro!

Two, improper elimination (peeing outside the litterbox) in cats can be an indicator of a serious medical condition. He needs to get that cat to a vet to rule out any illnesses before he starts working on behavior modification with the cat. It's possible that the cat gets stressed out by the loud noise (to him) of your band rehearsal, so that could be a whole 'nother issue to tackle.

While going outside the litter box can be a sign of a serious issue it generally indicates a lazy owner. If an owner fails to maintain a cat's littler box they will stop using it and find another place to go. The drummer is likely the one to blame here, not the cat.

As far as the bag and pedals, they're stunk for life. The pedals will hopefully get less smelly since they aren't fabric but the bag is done. You can try and air it out but you will just be wasting your time short of soaking the whole bag in bleach for a week.

I never leave all my gear anywhere for just this reason.

If I leave an amp, I take the power cord and speaker cords with me, and cover it if I have a Tuki cover for it (which I generally do).

I never leave my pedalboard or instruments anywhere. They always travel home with me. Always.
