Drunkest Guy at the bar

Yes, many, many years ago.

I played one a few months ago that has like a MMA cage around it :p

The favorite DGATB story I remember the best was year's ago with my Classic rock band. We were asked to do a nice show at one of the city's coolest clubs.
We do our set (open) and all is good. The main band which I knew members of get up to play to a packed house and start ripping into their material a set of Originals and covers. About 3 songs in I see the guitarist bend down to what I thought was to adjust his pedal board..nope.

He he knealing over from being @hitfaced drunk I mean this guy was blasted. I heard latter he drank 14 beers before the show started and showed up drunk to set up :eyebrow:
They tried to keep playing but the look on the other band members faces was priceless. What made it worse was he tried to wrap up his pedal board and put his guitar in the case all while sitting on the edge of the stage as the band kept playing...he was failing badly :smug:
My wife and I had to laugh as did others it was wild. He could not even sit up straight to try to put away his gear and when others tried to help he pushed them away.
Finally the BL called a timeout and with help they got him and his equipment out.
In the parking lot he tried to fight them everyone when they told him not to drive but then he jumps in his truck full of gear and races off. Last I heard he somehow lived and made it home that night :rollno:

Large rather unattractive extremely drunk lady (LUEDL) starts dancing rather provocatively in front of the lead singer making direct eye contact with him the entire time. She looks like a Rottweiler staring at a steak. I look over at the lead singer's wife, who's in the audience. She's rolling on the floor laughing. He ignores LUEDL and she stays there a while but finally moves over and starts doing the same to the drummer. He ignores her and looks at me rather desperately and looks real uncomfortable. Now I'm feeling uncomfortable because I'm the next one over if the drummer sheds her. So I start doing my best John Entwistle "stand there still and just stare out into space somewhere above the audience" look. Never look at her at all. She eventually stumbles back to her seat.

After about 3 hours of "Happy Hour" the warm-up band was just getting into their second or third song. The drunkest hottest looking woman in the place (DHLWIP) started dancing right in front of the stage, looking at the bass player (not me, unfortunately) affectionately. It took a wile for us to notice that her blouse was unbuttoned and her skirt was hiked up in the front, both revealing that she was going completely commando.

our lead guitar player in one of my bands had to be the dgatb last gig. there were some technical problems, so after the show he decides to get drunk off his ass and proceeds to give a nuclear rant calling the promoter some unrepeatable names, goes off on the other bands on the bill and writes an email to the venue operator telling him how bad the place is and how the sound guys sucks d--k. well needless to say, we lost a summer festival gig that the promoter had already booked us for and we have been black listed at several other venues now. The singer and I are in damage control mode , so we will see if we can salvage any upcoming shows

Wow that sucks. I guess a band is only as strong as the dumbest link...

yeah he is not all that bright , and in his defense, he does not drink often, but if he does, he makes it a gooder

Your story reminds me of when our singer was the DG(irl)ATB and did the same thing to the promoter - ranted about a whole lot of BS stuff when the problem was that we played a very mediocre show in a venue that usually demands top notch shows. Oh well.

People dancing alone is usually a sign that someone's had just a little too much. Band beware.

We had one DGATB dancing alone, and it was memorable. He was having trouble, and he literally passed out on his feet and fell like a tree being cut by a lumberjack, and faceplanted on the dance floor. I don't think he was OK, but his friends shuffled him out right after that.

well we did play a decent show, ton of energy (drummer was ill with pneumonia, but insisted on doing the show), not perfect by any means , but with no monitors and stage sound , we did ok. the tirade really caught us all off guard, because after all , the show must go on , warts and all , dunno , maybe he was just having a bad day

....wallawallabob wins the best post in the thread...

We had something similar, but entirely different. She lifted up her sweater to show that she wasn't wearing a bra or shirt under the sweater. Unfortunately, she was an older woman, large, hair was all messy and greasy, and she was apparently homeless. Ug.

So what did your 'drunkest guy at the bar' do to distinguish himself?
.
oh man ...
so many bars , so many drunks ...
where to begin ??
how about the guy who was so drunk that he didn't seem to realize or care
that he had relieved himself all over himself ...

how about the chick that tried to punch this bass player , only to swing and miss ,
fall three feet off stage and smash her teeth ...

yeah , i only play at classy joints .
the list could go on and on ...:hiding:

There's a few. I have one buddy who ends up being dgatb a lot, but always a suppportive drunk. About a month ago we were playing a show, and he rallied his other buddies to all group around the side of the stage and grope my a$$ mid set.

I think the best though, was when our opening bands bl got wasted after their set when I was playing with a metal band in a dive bar. He decided that the best way to show his appreciation was to jump onstage and start a mosh pit with my band. After he knocks over all the mic stands and my singer, I dropped the bass part and threw the guy off the stage. While this was happenning, another dgatb grabbed the mic, ran off into the crowd, and started "singing" our songs...which he had never heard before...

Last night I played a coffee house that sells beer at night. It's kinda just a local bring your acoustic guitars, basses, and cajons and jam type of thing. It starts at 9:30PM. I show up at 9 and watched a guy get cut off by the bar. At 9PM at a coffee shop. Anywho, he kept asking me if I knew this guy from a local band. I think I said yes like 10 times throughout the night. After my set I walked outside for a cigarette and this cute girl walks out and asks "Who's in my car?" Mr. Coffeehouse Drunkard was inside her car sleeping with his head hanging out the window with a pool of vomit next to her car.

I haven't dealt with many drunks recently but have had several things happen in the past. My old band was setting up at our first gig and this drunk guy kept yelling, "I heard you guys suck!" I finally said "you're right, so why did you come here tonight?" Once we started playing the guy was screaming with his hands in the air and getting into the music. In between songs he kept saying "You guys don't suck!" After the first set he started with the "You guys suck!" thing again. He was promptly physical carried out of the bar.

Another time I was playing and not feeling well and kept running to the bathroom. This particular bathroom had urinals and regular toilets but the toilets did not have doors on the stalls. I was sitting there and 2 drunks walked in. One of them noticed me and started trying to have a conversation with me. He saying "Wow, you're the bass player. Look at this the bass player is taking a crap". And so on. I kept politely asking him let me finish and then I would buy him a beer. Then he tried to shake my hand. So I did something very disgusting that I wish I hadn't but it was funny at the time, I wiped and with the toilet paper still in my hand I reached out to shake his hand. He actually shook my hand and then started laughing at what I had done. I will never forget it.

The last drunk incident was unfortunately a guitar player that was in my band. We did a lot of alternate tuning so he 4 guitars. When he drank he would forget which guitar to use and he was often playing in the wrong key as a result. After this happened several times, I left the band.
