DSMnoisemaker & Humboldt Electronics Simplifier Bass Station

I’m a little bummed it’s an ampeg flavored preamp only but it’s understandable after considering the form factor and limited space for controls. The description of the gain knob makes it sound like the preamp stays fairly neutral character wise until the gain gets cranked... is that the case?

Then, after the preamp, there's an fx loop, and then there's a blend with the clean (parallel) signal.
The parallel signal has its own fx loop, and a switchable LPF.
There’s so much info packed into these two sentences... I totally missed it until I stared at the picture of the pedal itself.

Parallel/Clean blend, plus switchable LPF cleans... PLUS an FX loop on the clean signal itself so it may not even be clean! That’s impressive! Totally opens up insane possibilities for pedal combos... like using a compressor thru the FX loop and blending in the low passed parallel signal... it’s almost like having a side chained compressor that lets more low end through!

So, I play direct at my church, but I'm in a weird situation. I'm in the market for a new preamp, and this intrigues me. I already have a dedicated DI I love, and last thing in my chain is an OmniCabSim Deluxe. My home amp just died, and since I live in an apartment and do 90% of my playing at home through headphones, I was entertaining getting a second OCSD instead of fixing it for a dedicated practice station.

Then I saw this. Preorder in.

My current rig is drive -> preamp -> volume pedal -> modulation/reverb -> OCSD -> DI. I use the volume for fading in and out with out changing the gain for any of my pedals, leaving the modulation/reverb to ring, and as a mute between sets. The different loops and signal blends on this are confusing me a bit, is there a spot on this that would get me a similar effect to my current signal chain? Pretty sure I'm overthinking how the parallel clean blend and fx loops are interacting.

@Dsmnoismaker. How is the pedal Layout? I'm interested to know where the out/through jack socket is put in the pedal (after preamp, before...) and where is the preamp loop (before/after the preamp circuitry). I found the box interesting, but i have some detailed needs about the placement of my pedals. Hope that a manual will come up soon, i usually rely a lot on paper to guide my purchases! :-D

I had to change my signature after this post.
lol - yeah, I remember this happened in the early 90s, similar to the BDDI recently, the times they-a-change. Everyone wants to be different, until different becomes the norm. It would be nice to have some more "industry standards" to bench/compare sound models off of, a lot of people hold onto the SV sound.

It is a good sound. I totally get it and not knocking it. Heck, my clank with fuzz I like so much from Peavey and Orange, Mesa(my Bass 400 particularly) are probably just as hated. But they are my sounds.

Hi everyone!
Sorry if I've been lazy on answering messages and replying on the forum. The NAMM was a lot of work and now we are staying in LA with the family as vacations till next week, so access to be able to sit down and check the web is limited.

The Simplifier Bass station is a huge hit. We sold out the first batch in less than 2 weeks, and we didn't even made a press release or a video demo.. surprising!!
Most if the units were sold to USA distributor (alpha) and China (BNG) and the rest to Spain, Colombia and Indonesia. And a few direct preorders.

I'm attaching the flow diagram. It's pretty useful to understand the signal flow and what to expect.

I'm happy to answer all questions when i have some free time from vacation
