Will try to do some simple clips soon, but man, I have to tell you, these P46s are amazing! So much clarity and sizzle that, for the first time in my life, I find myself actually using the passive tone knob.
I even switched from my normal stainless rounds to a set of Nickel!The double-reverse-P layout seems to work really well here too. Last night was the second band rehearsal with it, and I got great comments on the tone (and the paint!). The little strings don’t sound plinky, and the big strings don’t sound flubby. I’m pretty much in love with running both pickups together, in what would (I guess) be “angry Jazz” mode. But the neck pickup by itself sounds like what my idea of a typical P is (Just with more clarity up top), and the bridge by itself is useful in certain settings too. It’s almost weird, as this is pretty much the opposite of a fancy boutique bass, yet it sounds incredible.
This! The parallel option can get you closer to faux Jazz tones. Not a bad thing to have some flexibility on a couple push/pull pots.You just have to remember that with P-pups, you get the option of series or parallel wiring.
Or switchable.
I love that name, "Angry Jazz"! It's a perfect way to describe my dual-P Blacktop Jazz. That, or "My Bass Cannon!", captures it pretty well.
Just buy a Precision and have it routed out for another set of p'ups. That's what I did. That or get one custom made from scratch. Take your pick.

I come across black double P Warlocks from Korea (around $200) in the pawn shops about once/year.
Here's mine. Dual Alembics on a custom fretless.
Depending on how much money you want to spend, you can have Warmoth custom-make you a body. IIRC, they charge an extra $40 or so for a custom pickup route.
I've got a Precision-style body for a custom build on the way (one of these years) from USACG that's going to be routed for dual EMG35s, and I'm going to use two of their reverse-P 35P4AX pickups. One nice thing about that particular size is that EMG (and others) make a wide variety of internally different pickup configurations in the same form-factor, so any later changes won't involve routing.
OK so I had been looking at this and had a few questions.. how does that bridge intonate? I see height adjustment screws but none for intonation.. Also if these are active pickups with a active pre, can I use passive pickups with this pre or is it a active proprietary system? Seems like the BC rich line got a new owner and complete overhaul last year - no reviews of this bass anywhere. Also, look at how odd that description is worded with sentences starting with AND nearly every sentence. Seems like a decent deal however.

I would think that with the right Volume & Balance (I'd prefer two volumes) pot values feeding the preamp you could have whatever pickups you wanted in there.
DOH!, just noticed that on B.C. Rich's own site they make it sound like it's got a 4-band EQ, but it's obvious from looking at the knobs that it's only 2-band.

I think I do prefer the non-reversed layout compared to standard neck P and reversed P in the bridge position.
Although I do think the pickups in the video are positioned too far from another... sounds perfectly woody for blues, but too Höfner-ish for my taste.
I'm having a hard time picturing the way the pickup positions match my two P/P designs, and I'm also ambivilent on reverse Ps, but that seems damn near ideal.

That is a work of art. So much so, I probably would struggle playing it because it looks so nice.
